    Default Mirror's Edge

Demo just came out for PS3 today. Anyone download it?

I just beat the demo and I gotta say, I'm really impressed. I definitely wanted to keep playing. Reminded me of Prince of Persia only in modern time. Combat is simple but that's what they are going for. If the actual game is long enough to keep me entertained and there is some replay value this is worth picking up judging by the demo.

    Your thoughts?

the demo was fucking short, i spent over 30 minutes (approximation) downloading it, and then played it for about 5 minutes. i liked the idea, but the "runner vision" bullshit totally killed it for me. also, freerunning on skyscrapers? da fuck

I'm sure there will probably be a way to disable runner vision. Or maybe higher difficulties won't use it. One thing I noticed though was there are more than one way to get to your objective. Maybe in the actual game it will be more like a suggested path and there will be more than one route.

I might buy this game, if not I'll at least get my hands on it from a friend. It looks really amazing though, I really like the artistic style of the animation.

Just downloading the demo to 360. I've been waiting to test out this game to see if it's any good. Too bad I don't have the stamina and strength that Faith has.

From the sound of it, it sounds to me like this game was just made because everyone was like "OMG FREE RUNNING IS SO COOL!!!" for a while, so someone clicked onto this and decided to make/rush a computer game out of it. And mix it with a FPS.

Sounds pretty awful to me, I'm not even going to look at it.

While this is probably true for the origins of the idea in the sense that it was the cool thing to do a few years back, the fact that because of that you won't try it is hilarious. You're missing out on a pretty unique game here. Maybe not worth buying, but trying the demo is worth it.

    I'll pass.
I have too many uncompleted games as it is.

I thought the game is good if you enjoy speedrunning and trying to get better and better times. The fighting sucks and the game forces you to fight in the end part of it. First you need to avoid all enemies and later you just have to fight them, it makes no sense.

I freakin' loved the demo. I've got the game coming to me on GameFly so i'll be playing the hell out of it in the next couple of days.

I played the game on my brother's PS3 couple of days ago.
And I enjoyed it a lot.
It got good graphics, an apparently rather flat storyline (which often is good for casual gamers like me) and some unique game mechanics.
I'll prolly force him into buying it, haha.

Got it and beat it while my internet was down.

    Well, a few things:

    1. The storyline is horrible. HORRIBLE. They never tell you exactly what you're supposed to be fighting against. I mean, it's not just that they plop you down and say "This city sucks. You try to make it not suck. Okay, go." I mean, the first cutscene, the main character fucking says herself that the city used to be better, then "they started changing it", and everyone rioted to try and get it to stay the same, but it didn't work, and now it's bad. BUT THEY DON'T SAY WHY. It doesn't make sense. It's like someone took the completed script and cut out all the "Justifications for main characters' actions because of oppressive society" parts with an X-acto Knife. They reference it. They talk about it. But they don't EXPLAIN it. Beyond that, what actually happens in the game is all woefully predictable.

    2. If anyone watched the demo playthroughs with the developer commenting on the game, you may remember him saying that while you could steal guns from cops, you can get through the game without firing a single bullet. BULLSHIT. The only thing you can possibly complete in this game without using a gun is becoming the world's most ventilated woman, or possibly a brain hemorrhage from how much rage fills you when you can't get through the god damn level.

    3. This game reminded me of Prince of Persia. And not in a "Oh man, I like the feeling" way. It so strongly resembled the Sands of Time series, that whenever I missed a jump and would start falling, I'd seriously start mashing R1, trying to reverse time. All it did was make me wish I was playing a better game.

Lol, yeah...I thought it would be that bad.
    That's why I didn't play it.

    Hate to say it, but...

    Told you guys.
