    Default Marvel vs. Capcom 2

I just started playing this for Dreamcast and I'm addicted. Anyone else play?

I like to use Cyclops, Iron Man, Chun Li, Cable, Doctor Doom, Ryu, Storm.. and some others as well.

I hope they release a new version for 360/PS3 like MvC:3 or at least release #2 with updated graphics and online play or something on the marketplace.

I still have my Dreamcast, and I still have my copy of MvC2. Got it at a used game store ages ago for ~$15. Most fun I've had playing a fighter. I got nearly at the characters unlocked, and then one day after not picking up for a while, I accidentally overwrite the save file

The best fighter to play hands down, unless you've got a mad controller setup for your computer and play MUGEN.

I could not have said it any better. Best fighting game ever, period. My typical three man team is War Machine, Spiderman, and Psylock and I am quite good. Sometimes I switch Cable out for Spiderman

They'll probably never re-release it. ever. Capcom lost the rights to produce the games with Marvel characters which resulted in the sudden stoppage of MvC2 games for the Xbox and PS2 consoles. That's why they're worth so much. Things change and Capcom could regain the rights but don't have too much hope.

I remember a while back at my local Gamestop the staff caught a multiple seller of the game (he'd buy it online or elsewhere for cheaper, and then try and return it as if he bough it there for more) and banned him from the stores in the area. At the time, the game was going for ~$80, and he would just keep coming in and trying to "return" his bought copies. I don't know the whole story behind it, but I was in the store when they finally kicked him out. I think they even threatened to call the cops.

Other than that, I'd try and juggle my characters from time to time, but the ultimate cheeseballs of the game would definitely be Iceman (his Ice Ball), Cabal (his chain Viper Beam), and few others I can't remember. They were just too unforgiving, and had combos and moves which were so dumbed down. Personally though, Cabal was a fav, even with the aforementioned moves, but I also loved Shuma Gorath, Servbot (crazy specials), Iron Man (Proton Cannon!) and the Sentinel. There were honestly too many characters to choose from, so I'm sure there are more that I missed that were my faves.

    Reasons for above cheesiness:

    I just came across this:

"Anyway, IGN reports that at Comic-Con, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President of Production (wotta title), was asked if a new Marvel vs. Capcom game was possible someday. His reply: "Yes. And maybe sooner than you think.""

Cable / Iron Man / War Machine / Iceman used by someone who's just trying to spam cheese is useless against someone who can play.

Cable played well can be pretty dangerous though.

I love this game, but maybe not as much as you guys. Peronally, I never thought it took much skill. I'll take the first MvC over the 2nd and I'll take CvS2 over any fighting game out right now.

I had it on the console a long time ago but never played it at a high level. Playing it at the arcade is a different beast. Generally the only characters used were Magneto, Storm, Sentinel, Cable, and Psylocke. Just characters doing massive air combos while leading in with assists and just doing reset damage over and over again. Personally I like team scrub with Cable, Sentinel, and Captain Commando.

This is my 2nd favorite fighting game, surpassed only by ST. I use to play a lot back in the day but haven't really played since the scene here died out. Still get some random weekend matches going when friends come over, but nothing more than mildly competitive. I use to play MSP, MSS, team Scrub, Strider and Spiral traps a lot. Man, now I want to play some Strider/Sent/Doom.

Also, Cable is considered top tier... He's an excellent defensive character and the AHVB is a match ender. Most people would consider you a scrub for calling him cheap...

If it's for PS2 or XBOX then you're ripping him off in a major way. If it's for Dreamcast, then you're the one getting ripped off.

Uh, the Dreamcast version is the only arcade-perfect one. The PS2 version is ridiculously broken. It's generally around the same price ($60-$70) as the Xbox version as well.

In short: either way you look at it, $15 is a steal for this game.

Also the PS2 / XBOX versions are much rarer than the dreamcast version due to Capcom losing the copyright to Marvel.

Granted, but it's still worth a lot more than $15. You said he'd be getting ripped off...

I can't see why you wouldn't like it, but you can probably sell it to an EB for $30 in the offchance that you don't.

The Xbox version has emulation problems that result is weird frame rate issues and other bugs. But unless you're an old arcade player, or just really good at the game, you probably wouldn't notice the difference.

Also, if you don't like it you could always sell it on Ebay or Amazon for anAmazon.com: Marvel vs. Capcom 2: xbox: Video Games@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61T56MA445L.@@AMEPARAM@@61T56MA445L.
