Well I did love Dawn of War
Sweet I'll check it out.
i'm not great at RTS games in general, but this game is even more faster paced and, even though it has less units, requires more micromanagement. really different...
*there are no construction units and essentially no base units aside from your stronghold
*all base upgrades have been streamlined into 3 tiers of your stronghold
*there seem to be less types of units on each side
*everything is spawned out of your base
* there is a lot more focus on individual units and your commander in particular
*you can only have one commander type unit with a special ability not given by any other unit (such as healing or the construction of defense turrets)
*you can only reinforce if your unit is at your base or near a personnel carrying unit
*cover is more important, and you have suppression
*power is now generated by a "power node" around which you can build 3 power generators by spending requisition
*in standard type games, victory is obtained by increasing your victory score, generated by strategic points called "victory points"
So what you get is a game even more focused on capturing and holding land and even more fluid in the possession of territory. Zerging is no longer a viable strategy. Really, it's nothing like DoW. It's pretty intense, very promising, and probably a game I'll never be very good at.
Well, the one exception I should say to the above is that the insectoid Tyrands have, unsurprisingly, a rather Zerg-like strategy, with squads comprised of 12 or so units (as opposed to the 3 space marines per squad) and lots of little throw-away units.
Sounds a lot like the first one.
It isn't a bad game, it just seems to run horribly on my system...which it really shouldn't.
Otherwise, they need to implement some serious balance changes - as much as I love playing Eldar, they need to be smacked with the nerf stick.
My tag is FaradayConstant if you want to try to play later.
I just finished downloading it but when i try to run the game it doesn't work. "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_39.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." the thing is I already re-installed it once and i get the same message again.
I have a steam account, if that helps.
Figured it out.

Well I just installed it and it doesn't work for me either. Just gets halfway through the intro vid and then crashes the computer.
On my computer the game wouldn't even open i'd press launch and get the error message immediately.
OKAY OKAY OKAY BEFORE TOGS SAYS ANYTHING, ANYTHING:
TOGS and I played a 1 v 1 game of Annihilate.
I conquered the entire map, and got right up to his base.
Then I fucked it up by not building the right units to take out his defensive turrets.
After keeping him under siege in his base for around 1/2 hour to 45 minutes I gave up and let him overrun my base.
So he won, but I called him a fag in the middle of the game so it's official. So I feel vindicated.
It was fun none the less.
I got it I'll check it out tomorrow.
I'd be up for a game if it didn't fucking crash my PC.
my tag is aquickbrew if anyone wants to add me.
Mine is Infernuser
