I imagine he's comparing upscaled DVDs to 1080i vs a BluRay in 1080p. I don't think BluRay is all worth the money right now, but there is still a noticeable difference in video and sound quality.

Yeah, that's what I got from it as well. My point about 480p was that it's the native DVD resolution... only it's being upscaled to 1080i/p.

Imo, BD is definitely worth it if you have a 42"+ TV. At this size the extra resolution really does shine over upscaled DVDs. Not to mention 24p, proper 5:5/3:3 pulldown and 7.1 audio.
