    Default Resident Evil 5

This game is as fun as it is infuriating. While the gameplay is still the same as RE4 it feels quite restrictive for this generation of games and might take a couple chapter to get use to. Money seems to be harder to come by (you definitely do not get as much as you did in RE4). The partner system is pretty cool to have, it's like carrying two guns, but the partner can be quite annoying. For instance they pick up everything you want and nothing you want them to carry. When you are trying to aim at someone, Sheva's big fat head gets in the god damn way, also, when you want to back up from a special monster to not get impaled, Sheva comes to the rescue to stand in your way so you are trapped. The storage system is now horrible, I loved the case system so much an how you could upgrade the room, but now you get nine spaces for each character(size of item does not matter). I usually carry 2 or 3 guns(Shotgun, Machine Gun and either Rifle, Grenade Launcher or Magnum), while I give Sheva the pistol. Upgrading guns is the same except there isn't an exclusive upgrade like there was in RE4, which is what I was looking forward to. Upgrades aren't as expensive, but you don't get as much money anyways so it's sorta the same, and always you will upgrade a weapon a good bit, just to get thrown a new weapon of the same type(there are 3 different weapon for all types in the game, except the magnum, which is two). But the story was pretty darn cool and the visuals were really nice. I'd suggest playing a couple times on easy just to get your weapons upgraded, then go to normal and hard. Haven't tried co-op or mercenaries yet so I'll get to y'all on that later. For now it's a 8.7 out of 10.

Are you in Japan or did you have it imported?
Do Las Plagas still exist? Have you met a chainsaw guy yet the one that was in the second level of the demo that took forever to kill?
I would get this game but I hope I have money when it's released.

I have a modded 360 and I got a early release back up. An advanced version of the Las Plagas exists(known as Urosboros). Chainsaw guy killed me more then anything else in the game. Aim at his head and hope for the best.

Just got this at the midnight opening. Played co-op for about 2 hours. Brilliant so far, don't think I'd fancy it on single player as much, though. Haven't really played any RE games since RE2 so it's good to get back into it. Can't wait to carry on playing but I've gotta be at work in a few hours.

Yeah the only way I can see having fun with this game is playing with people you know. It would be boring playing with AI and awkward playing with other random people. I just want to take a stab at the mercenary mode.

Co-op with a friend seems to be the focus of this game. Single player is kind of awkward without an actual person to talk to and figure out a plan of action. Some of the B.O.W's are just insanely difficult to kill. I'm not a fan of the Inventory. I think it would have been pretty simple to allow you to move and shoot or at least move and reload.

not being able to move and shoot was intentional, it makes the game a lot more intense i like it
ive only been playing this co-op at my buddies house and holy shit it is intense
great game, only thing that really annoys me is the attack system think where you have to press X quick when they're stunned to do an attack. half the time it doesnt even show up and sometimes it doesnt work.
also the stun baton kicks ass, it's pretty much all i've been using besides the occasional machine gun for bigger guys. my partner uses a shotgun so it balances out pretty good.

I was playing the final chapter with my friend last night and I wasn't that impressed. The game is beautiful looking but it was just...silly. Why on Earth is Chris so unnecissarily buff? The whole punching the shit out of the bolder in the final boss fight to make a bridge was just stupid. Speaking of which, maybe it was just the last chapter, but how many quick time events does a game need in a single portion of the game. Fuck. It seemed like every cut scene there was several of them. Sheva's AI sucks pretty hard. She burns threw ammo in a matter of seconds and uses health the second your health drops just a noticable amount but nothing worth worrying about. Maybe I gotta play the whole game but juding from the good bit I've played I'll wait till this game drops a lot in price.

RE4 was fucking awesome, one of the best games out on the PS2, one of the best games ever made, a masterclass in cinematic gaming, took me ages to get into it but once I did, I was bowled over by how brilliant it was.

Do I expect this to be as good? I don't know, but I do expect a good game none the less.

I am poor and can't afford it at the moment. My mum went shopping and asked if I needed anything. I said "RE5 LOL". Think she will get me it?

Allegedly, RE:6 will be a reboot of the franchise.

    ...

Well, good, because the storyline has gone from being genuinely frightening - a drug company so powerful they reanimate the undead, nuke a city and get off scot free - to... uh... Jesus, I don't even know. The storyline is so goddamn convuluted.

Getting it today when I get home. After playing the demo with a friend with the perfect setting, I'm pretty excited. I can't see single player being fun at all though.

Mal I got pretty lost with the story too. I'm just kinda going along with it all now and not caring, but I did see Wesker in that one trailer. He had superhuman powers and shit...I dunno I don't ask questions anymore. As long as the atmosphere remains scary and on edge they can do whatever the hell they want with Wesker.

It doesn't seem as scary as it used to be. It's more..tense. It's more like "oh shit another chain saw guy" or a huge horde of guys coming after you rather than a spooky atmosphere. I don't know if they are seriously trying to make the boss fights more scary by making them big and gooey looking, but they failed if so.

Yeah, definitely tense. Like shitting yourself when about 8 lickers break through big glass cells you're trying to sneak past, and then start chasing you (we killed them all). I wasn't scared at all and I don't really have a clue what the storyline was either. Still, it's the best game I'e played in a long time.

Gotta agree, it's not scary, but it sure is exhilarating.

the reason its less scary is cause you're playing with another person and someone always has your back. IMO if it was just you alone without the girl in the same exact game it would be pretty fucking scary.

Oh i agree fo sho. Everytime time the game forces u to seperate i run straight back to my partner. The game might be scarier if i played with AI or didnt constantly hear another man's reactions. pardon my spelling i made this on my ps3

Played the shit out of this game all weekend. Haven't had a chance to play solo, but got a lot of people who love playing this game with me. Stayed up on Friday to beat the game and I was disappointed by the very short ending. Now I am focused on playing to unlock everything.

Ultimately, I think the best move for the franchise is to return to its roots. AKA, shoot zombies, not this parasite infected people bullshit.

I wouldn't mind seeing hi-def rotting flesh and walking corpses, but I like the twist of the Los Plagas. /make point and concede

I am debating buying an Xbox so I can get this game

I played RE4 for Wii and it consumed my life. So much fun. Too bad Leon is not in the fifth one.

The final boss battle is flawed if you play it co op. When cheva is hanging on and you have to press x to keep her up she always falls. At least when I played it.
We had to do it on one player to beat it.

Also lol at continuing the resident evil tradition of how to finish off the final boss.

Yeah, I did the co-cop with my girlfriend, who isn't typically a gamer, and the "JAM X!" threw her off. We had to switch controllers so she sniped the boss while I jammed X.

It's a decent final boss, though. Better than in RE4, which I thought was kind of jumbled. I wish they had put together the phases in the boss fight a little better, though, because I would run and do the boulder thing first, the boss would jump to Sheva, and I would keep trying to cross on the boulder to help her up.

Chris has to cover Sheva, I just found that out recently. Just snipe him or something.

You have to shoot Wesker. She'll eventually puller herself up. My friend and I had the same problem.
