Someone that knows about xbox 360s

Well aside from this topic being derailed i'll get back to my point.

The disk drive is fine. I put a game in and close it it says "reading disk" for a split second then say "open tray" like it doesn't know there's a disk in it. When there is no game in the xbox at all it always says "open tray" (you push it on the controller and can open your drive) this is why i've assumed it doesn't know there is a game in it.

I originally asked if the laser i linked to on ebay will be compatible with my 360, this is all I really need to know, and if it doesn't work i'll move forward from there.

It doesnt know there is a game in it because IT THINKS THE TRAY IS OPEN. The laser is not the problem. If it was you would be getting disk read errors, not a tray open message. You need to change the entire drive.

It doesn't think the tray is open. What he means is that the tray is closed and it thinks there is no disc in there, which is why the command "open tray" appears instead of "play *******"
