Haha, yes, Wynne was who I was talking about.
However, I'm trying the game now without Wynne but with a buttload of Healing Poultices, as they heal for about twice as much as the Heal spell. I think early on the game would be extremely difficult without Heal, but later it's not so necessary.
I'm missing Revive and Group Heal a lot. I am also missing Zevran's lewd attempts to seduce Wynne and her indignation.
Well, hold on now. Arcane Warriors do not HAVE to be auto-attack monsters; they can also be spell casters as well. It's just that if you want them to be casters rather than auto-attackers, you'll have to stick to a staff rather than a sword. That's because a large number of spells can't be cast with a sword equipped.
So yeah, you can just keep using a staff with plate, and then you'll still be a pure caster... but encased in armor
The one thing being an Arcane Warrior does is that it takes away one of the mage's greatest weaknesses, namely their squishiness. Of course, there's fatigue to worry about it if you wear heavier armors, but that's not really big deal.
Arcane Warriors are strong, but according to some people they aren't mindblowingly stupid powerful until you also give them Blood Magic. About Blood Magic:Spoiler
