    Default Amnesia: The Dark Descent

...is a fantastic game and everyone with a Steam account should play it. I didn't think it was possible but it legitimately scared the shit out of me at some points. Has anyone else played it?

Okay the game's name is completely fucking retarded. However, I read the article on Wikipedia about it and it sounds really interesting (and kinda hard).

I might play it after I finish my current video game. (I only play one video game at a time.)

I wouldn't say its particularly hard. You won't breeze through the puzzles but its not like you'll get stuck on them for too long either. Its not a perfect game, but its almost unmatched at what its objective is and thats to scare you (or make you scare yourself really, it plays heavily on your own imagination).

Its $20 and about 6 hours of gameplay.

I remember reading an article written partly in response to Dead Space, stating why it isn't really a horror game and what really should be present in a game to truly make it work for the horror genre. This included not having a feeling of being able to confront the enemies toe-to-toe, having resources sufficiently scarce that the player can feel the severity of their lack, etc.

I've played the demo partly, and it feels like this game really accomplishes that.

I'm pretty impressed. I might chip in the cash to buy it later when I'm ready for a new game.

"If adventure games were a medical condition, the first symptom would be amnesia and the second symptom would be kleptomania."

my favourite quote is: "we live in a culture so steeped in adventure and escapism that we've managed to find mundanity in both."

Fun game! It is really one of the games i enjoy playing and one that i enjoy watching others play as they jump out of their skin! I will say the most fun I had playing this game was the physics.
