you know there is a huge modding base for minecraft, including high-res texture packs and additional functional mods (more creatures, hostile and friendly, movement sensors, elevators etc.)

edit: the high res texture is 256x256 (iirc) instead of 16x16, but requires a supplemental mod manager program to go with it

Yeah I'm already having enough trouble running it, and while those texture packs look incredible, I can't really imagine that'll help the situation.
