Default Can't do anything productive lately

I don't know what my deal is the last month or so. I can't get anything done. I'm talking normal day-to-day chore type stuff. For example, this weekend I had 3 things I wanted/needed to do. Wash my bedspread which involves going to a laundromat because it's too big to fit in the washer/dryer at home, go grocery shopping which isn't a big deal since I live by myself and only eat dinner at home most days anyway, and give my cat his bi-weekly bath for his excema.

None of it happened. I wasted all Saturday watching TV, and yesterday I slept until 1:00, fucked around on the computer until 5, worked out, took a shower, and put pajamas back on and sat in front of the TV some more.

Please nobody say I'm depressed, I think I'd know if I was or not. My mood is fine, I'm not sad or angry, I'm really quite content with life right now, I have an awesome job and things are going better than they have in a while, I just can't find any energy to do anything.

Anybody have any guesses what my problem is? Also anybody that's had this happen what did you do to snap out of it?

    Honestly, you're just being lazy.

You need to take some initiative, get off your arse, and do things.

    That's it.
I hear the voices inside my head. They counsel me. They understand. They talk to me.

Yep, it's just laziness. You're looking for validation, not a fix.

You're depressed and in denial. Something's wrong in your lifestyle.

Commit to a routine and then do it. It's that easy.

    It could be SAD.

Try and find a hobby and/or something that helps you socialize.

Are you getting distracted and forgetting about what you have to do or are you just being really lazy.

Well so much for serious advice I guess and I guess gwahir you can't not be a cocksucker even in PS. I'm not depressed. My life kicks ass right now, I have an awesome girlfriend, a great job, not a lot of financial worries, things are good and there isn't a day goes by that I'm not super thankful for my situation considering the economy is shit and a lot of people would probably at least consider killing to be in my position. If I'm depressed I sure as hell don't know it. My mood is fine, I just have no energy. I suppose it's possible but how could I have a full blown case of clinical depression that presents with ONE symptom?

I'm not looking for validation or I wouldn't have posted asking for a SOLUTION! It's not just lazy, I've been through lazy phases in my life and yeah, the solution is just get my ass up and do it. It isn't working this time. EVERYTHING just feels like too much effort. I mean I sit and think that yeah, the cat needs his excema bath, but if I do that then I'll have to clean the bathroom because he's going to shake water all over, then I'll have to do laundry because I'll have 3 wet towels full of cat hair and it's just too much effort. I'm living on cereal because I cant' stand the thought of going to the grocery store, walking around for an hour, and then having to come home and put all the shit away and cooking seems like too much effort anyhow.

I've thought that it might be SAD but I dunno, wouldn't I have had problems with it before 18 years old?

Meh, I dunno. I feel like that sometimes and it usually just happens to me in the winter from what I remember. I cant remember having it happening all that much when I was younger.

Well, I seem to go through a cycle like this once in a while that lasts a week or two. I usually keep my apartment pretty clean, keep the kitchen table cleaned off instead of letting junk pile up, so I put stuff up in the right place, don't let my bills pile up, take out the trash, make my bed, do the dishes, do the laundry, just keep everything going.

And for seemingly no reason, I just... wont. I let the dishes gather up in the dishwasher, I let my laundry pile up. I have a bag or two of trash that needs to be taken out, the table and my computer desk are a mess with junk and papers, and I delay on paying my bills. I have more than enough money in the bank... I just procrastinate. Then, I will buck up one day, clean the house, take out all the trash, pay all the bills, file everything away, do all the dishes, and then sit very clean and satisfied with my organized life.

Just every handful of months, there is seems to be a week or two, were I just... stop for a while.

Yeah, this is normal. Pretty much everyone does it. (Well not everyone, but pretty much everyone normal.)

It's laziness. I'm not passing judgment. If you want to be lazy, and you're not hurting anyone, go ahead. But don't look for possible diagnoses so you can feel better about yourself. If you want to get off your ass and do stuff, do it.

How hung up are you on your girlfriend? I was dating somebody and I was quite content with them right up until the night that I stupidly forgot I was driving and well, I drove in front of a bus like an idiot. I would even drop everything I was doing at work prior to that night to text the person.

Point is: if you're super hung up and allowing that to get in the way of your priorities, that is probably your problem.

Yea, it's just a lazy spell. I had a midterm and some other paper today and I had all weekend (with monday off) to do them and instead I surfed the internet and watched Psych for three days. Just force yourself to get up and do one of the things you mentioned and you'll be fine. Complaining about it will just make it last longer.

Not that hung up on her to the point I'm neglecting my own life. I was like that with my last GF and when we broke up, woah boy...I realized what a bad place I'd gotten myself into. Like there was no "me" left, everything that used to be me ended up to be us and her instead. We're really close but we do our own things without each other too.

The more I think about it, it might be SAD because it seems like it got really bad around Christmas and has been that way since. Also this is the first time in my life that I live by myself, and it's not like I'm lonely and depressed or anything just that there's not always somebody around to do things with or get things done with. Like when I lived at home, I'd do stuff with my brother like help him clean or go to the store, and when I lived at my intern house this last summer we'd all do that stuff together. Now there's nobody around to motivate me but me.

I talked to my best friend about it and he said he'd kinda try to help me out until I get more used to it which I think is pretty cool of him, like we can shop together for a while until I get into more a routine, and then it's kinda like an obligation too which means I have to get off my dead ass and get over to his at a certain time.
