    Default Living Alone

So basically me and my girlfriend went straight from living with our parents to living with each other. It's worked out for a while, but we both just want to try it on our own for a bit to have the experience. Plus it'd be nice to have some time alone once in a while, hah.

Anyways, I either need to tell our landlord that we're both leaving by the end of the month soon, or I can stay at this house myself. I'd like to get a new place, but there's not a lot of good choices that are really better than the place I'm at now. Another thing is damage deposit and reconnecting internet and all that.

If I can't find a place that actually persuades me to move out of this place, I see no reason why I should. Damage deposit's already paid, all the crap is hooked up, and it's close to my work.

Am I just being retarded and making an issue out of something that shouldn't be one? I just sort of feel that I'm used to this place so maybe I'm afraid to start new at another place.

I think you've got to follow your instincts on this one, buddy.

If you want a new place, find the best you can find and put in all the effort. If it doesn't matter, stay where you are.

    Um...

Why do you think you should move out? If you like where you're living, why go elsewhere?

Do you feel bad that your girlfriend would want to live where you're currently living instead of you, or is that not an issue?

I mean to say that just from what you've said in your post, it's not clear why you feel like you need to move out at all.

Well at first I felt like I needed to move to a new place just to get a fresh start, plus my girlfriend was pressuring me to get a different place(I guess so when she comes to visit it's new and "exciting"), but now that I think about it... I really don't care.

My place is smaller, but for just me it's more than enough. I could probably find better if I tried, but at the moment there's not a lot that pops out as amazing. I'm not willing to move to a new place 20 minutes away from my work just so I can save 50 bucks on rent or have a bit bigger living room, ya know?

I'm going to look around a bit more but as much as I'd like a change of scenery I think I'll just stay with where I'm living now. I can always move to a better place later, right?

Hmm, I think you're over thinking this. It's not such a big deal; just go with the flow dude

And yeah, you can always move out if you're not locked into a binding lease or anything.

I don't see a good reason why you would move here until you find a better deal

If the house carries bad memories or sentiments, move. Convenience isn't worth it (having been there on my own accord).

Otherwise sounds like you've got a sweet deal.

Because this guy obviously got confused when society put so much pressure on him to "move out" and "live on his own."

He didn't realize that living with his girlfriend away from his parents qualifies as "moving out" and "living on his own."

Otherwise I can't understand why this fellow thinks this is such a big deal.

I was just flustered and stupid, it seems. I felt like I should move out from my current place because my girlfriend was moving out. I guess I thought it wouldn't seem like my own place. Ironically after giving me all this shit about thinking I should find a new place, my girlfriend is living with her parents.

I'm staying at my place because I feel like it. That being said I'm a little upset with my girlfriend and not sure if I should start a new thread or not. Anyways, again thanks for the advice.
