The origin of the unicorn:
no. other fantasy settings did a much, much better job with most of the same basic elements that warcraft used.
at least warcraft I and II had a basic, not overly-serious setting that seemed interesting enough without being overly elaborate and silly. warcraft III's introduction of the night elves, the tauren, and the new, "tamed" horde made it mediocre at best and stupid at worst.
i mean, people often pan dragonage's setting as generic and derivative, but i find even that middling setting to be 1000x more compelling than warcraft's.
and couldn't warcraft have come up with at LEAST a SINGLE element or race that wasn't just orcs, humans, dragons, gnomes, elves, etc.? and no the draenei don't count, because they're nothing more than the ret-conned progenitors of the demons, for people that wanted to play eridar and to give the alliance a "big"-looking race. but in the end, they are still space goats and as such suck.
