I laughed. Quite hard.
I love this video, I've watched it probably twenty times in the past week.
Yeah, my brother tried to get me to watch it as soon as it was posted, but I declined. Now I regret that decision.
Wow.
I mean, this is just incredible.
They also have a soul group. Like, no shit. A soul group, called The Gregory Brother's Band. They're well worth a listen.
What the fuck.
That was crazy.
this was a-may-zing.
The video is just absolutely brilliant. I really can't watch it enough times.
probably the greatest thing ive ever seen in my life
kid's fucked up in the head
on the contrary, i thin kthe kid is quite awesome'd in the head
EVEN BETTER.

Noooooo way, though it was pretty good. Auto-Tune #5 was musically much, much tighter, and the flow was much more natural too.
I agree with Shiny - I think the music is actually improved for #6, but #5 is far funnier.
If anyone cares, one of the Gregory Brothers was on NPR's Studio 360 this week talking about aIto-tuning the news. You can hear the piece on the show's website.
Healthcare, Jobs, Scott Brown, and quadrupedal reptiles:

i have been waiting so long for number 10
All rise for the Guitar of Liberty: as the Founding Fathers did Rock before us, now thou shalt Rock.
#10 was by far the best
I KNOW WHO I AM
I'M SCOTT BROWN
AND I DRIVE A TRUCK
the guy looks like a cartoon CEO-jetsetter.
i wasn't taking a guess i know who he is i was just describing his weirdly shaped head
it's too late for my government
Also, most of the people who are auto-tuned are reporters and Republicans, probably there tends to be more Republicans than Democrats that say wild, outlandish things or make weird analogies. They might also tend to sound more "singing" when they speak.
yeah, but someone like katie couric or the "it's the smoke" guy from ATTN #5 are a lot easier to auto-tune, because their speech is a lot more melodic, more performative. sycld's right about the correlation.
he's also right that republicans seem to say more outlandishly hilarious (read: incredibly depressing if thought about too much) things
newscasters and politicians tend to be more melodic because the foundation of good public speaking is not being monotonic.
no no you misunderstand -- i mean, that's true, but it's not the same as saying their voice more lends itself to be autotuned
it doesn't matter what tone someone's speech is when you run it through an autotune, but the vocal quality and timbre and all those kinds of things make the difference
which, also, are the foundation of good public speaking
but too much of it and you just look silly (see entry: katie couric)
oh, because they actually have a speaking voice with resonance and projection? That helps, it's true, but you can literally autotune anything - moreover, once you have it autotuned, you can run that through a synthesizer and play their words as any notes you want to. I think, though, that relying on that too heavily put you on very thin ice
Don't look now but this thread just turned into AI
very thin ice
very thin ice
very thin ice
Well, I heard an interview of a couple of the Gregory Bros. on NPR, and they said that some voices are more song-like in their delivery than others. They cited Katy Couric's in particular.
You'd best stop disagreeing with me before you wake up deeeaad wake up wake up deeeeeeaaaad.

video blogs / cute little songs by michael gregory (the biggest brain behind the team)
hah, for some reason i had thought the middle brother was the main brains behind it, but it makes sense that it's micahel.
if i admit that i'm attracted to the shirtless michael baby, does that make me a pedo?
Also, for completeness's sake, here's Michael Gregory on American Idol:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yny161jmVM
For fuck's sake, did he really do that badly?
And here's a clip of some pre-fame bad assery on his part. In the refrain at 1:06, you can hear the forerunner of a very familiar theme. My god; did he wear this insane outfit with that enormous hip pack on purpose?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxMP6V3kOTg
He did wear that on purpose, and the middle brother is the most talented singer of the group, but Mike is by far the most talented musician. Unless you count Sarah, who has some really strong, sultry pipes as well.
i would say that evan's the most talented performer and the funniest (judging by his performances in the videos and his graduation speech which my friend saw on youtube), sarah's by far the most talented singer (which is why she's frequently not auto tuned) and michael's the brains. michael IS schmoyoho (the youtube profile that posts all the auto tune videos), and he seems to be the musical genuis of the group as well as the auto tune technician. that certainly qualifies him to be the brain, i'd say.
edit: i take back what i said -- katie couric is definitely the best singer of the group
good save gwahir cause you were standing on very thin well you know the rest.
also yeah, i agree that sarah is the best intentional singer of the group. but there's no doubt that michael is the best rapper of the group (in this capacity he's not really utilized, and i still think michael is a good singer though, and though there was little to no chance he would have won, I think that the pricks on american idol were being, well, pricks.
good for us, however, that he didn't get in.
i would say this one is sub-par but that would be a rip - rip - tide of lies
Heheh, nice! Thanks for posting that; I missed it in my subscriptions.
P.S. Why can't Glen Beck die already? :C

There are so many funny things about this. First, just the fact that the Gregory Bros. are actually at a real new desk being somewhat serious was hilarious to me.
Secondly, this very old host has no clue about technology at all. He doesn't even know what a blue (or green) screen is.
And the silly serious shtick was pretty cool and exemplified what they were parodizing.
This is so very funny if you are familiar with Autotune the News #10

Run and tell THAT, homeboy
That's how I picture Sycld, only with an indian accent
just doin' a little curlin', not too much
Oh right, never mind the fact that my grandmother and father were both born here, and that I was born and raised in MD my whole life, but because I have brown skin I must speak with an Indian accent, must not be from the United States, and must be vegetarian.
Yes, people assume that I am not from the US and that I am vegetarian because I have brown skin...
I think I'll just call you George Allen from now on.
That song broke #3 on some hip-hop charts, I think. It was on The Gregory Brother's FB page.

this is my favourite accidental singer-song, musically. pity it's so short.
So many people are going to be makin' love to this song. She's like a modern tiny girl version of Barry White.

having watched it a few times, i think this one is their weakest yet, and the chaps from weezer are disappointing
well their peak was 5-12, with a few soft spots in between
it's a bit much to say "their peak WAS" when the peak "ends" just before the most recent one, though. i just think all the best ones -- 5, 6, 9, 10 and 12 -- were in that time. maybe their next one will be crazy awesome as well.
out of curiosity what do you think is their weakest, sycld
well i don't like -- is it blink 182 that that joel madden guy is from? whoever he is, i don't like him, but he was pretty cool in #11. he did better than weezer, and i like weezer better than blink 182.
so i felt it was worth comment.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m50n4hqx1Ho&feature=recentlik
not really that impressed by this one, but judging by the video and the quality of the speech, this one was a pretty insanely ambitious effort

i am impressed by this though
lol.
gwahir.
lol. you's so silly. guess why i think you're silly.
i think the one with t-pain was a nadir, though i'd have to watch it again to determine whether or not it is worse than the latest one. i'm at work at a computer sans speakers so i can't look at it right now.
it's good charlotte, not blink 182.
also, the t-pain one -- that would be #8 -- i hated at first, but it really grew on me after more and more listens. i'd say it beats #13.
