comic book review club?

So is anyone interested in group reviewing a comic each week? We can vote on what comic we want to review and then start the review on Wednesday. How /r/comicbooks handles it's picks for each week is that it has a list of it's members and rotates through that list, letting a member choose the book. We could do that if you prefer.

What are your thoughts and if you are interested what comic would you be interested in reviewing next week (list up to 3 comics). It'd be nice to have a comic that everyone is already reading (unlikely) or one that is fairly new reader friendly.

My picks are Journey Into Mystery #634, Secret Avengers #22, and Venom #13.1. Both issues of Secret Avengers and Venom should be fairly new reader friendly. My top choice is Venom since it's a point one issue (In case you live in a cave, point one issues are specifically supposed to be a jump on point)


By the way, everyone is welcome to join even if you normally don't read comic books. The only requirement is that you read the issue before you review it.

Cool you guys. Also I just realized Venom #13.1 is actually part 2 in a 6-part story (fucking Marvel). I suppose Secret Avengers #22 is my top pick right now. Did you guys have any suggestions?

I'm so far behind on some of my comics I'll probably never catch up. I have about 8 months of comics to add to my database, and about 3 months to bag & board. Not to mention the ones I haven't read.

yeah most of the one's I've read have been shit but there's been a few good ones.

We'll let you know if we review one of those comics. If you're actually serious about having a group review, keep an eye out for a good jump on place in one of them and we can review it (assuming most people don't have an objection to this).

I read all of season 8 of buffy but generally if a comic has an erratic schedule I won't remember what happened the last issue so realistically I may as well have not read a single issue since I couldn't tell you what happened in season 8 at all now

I've never been part of a book club so I don't really know how this works. I pick up a comic that's chosen (in this case Secret Avengers #22, I would have voted for Venom because it's on my pull list :argh: ), read it, then slam my head against my keyboard a few times to produce sentences describing how I felt about it?

Well the reason Venom #13.1 is out is because it's part 2 of a 6 part story. I'd be nice if we choose comics that are new reader friendly (like the 1st issue in a story arc), so we can attract the greatest amount of people.

But yeah that's close enough. Just write what you liked and/or didn't like about the comic.

Damnit, we should have started this a week ago. Deadpool 49.1 was AWESOME

also darn it venom 13.1 is part 2 of circle of four which means I have to break my no point one rule
