I'm looking for quite particular footage, and it has to be high quality, so I'm thinking of ripping a shot from a movie, but I can't find or think of a movie that has what I need.
What I need is for a shot of a moving train with loads of people hanging on to the outside -- as in, in India. I know I've seen it before, and I need that specific footage, I just can't FIND it anywhere. Any ideas of movies that might have a scene like that? Or anything similar/approximate?
Slumdog Millionaire has a scene like that IIRC?

Slumdog was a good idea. Someone also suggested Gandhi, and then we ended up ripping some footage that was not too shitty, but JUST SHITTY ENOUGH for our purposes, because none of us could be fucked watching movie after movie looking for literally three seconds of footage.

You may want to also check The Darjeeling Limited and I know Top Gear did special in India, they may have some nice stock footage.
