I really hope this catches on and a company develops a $10-15 case to mount it. I'd love to pick one up as an HTPC in a few months, once developers have posted guides and whatnot for the best way to utilize it.
tl;dr $35 PC with Ethernet, HDMI out, and the power to output 1080p.
I read on BoingBoing I think earlier today that their site crashed and burned due to the web traffic, sounds like its popular!
Wow, $25? I've never even heard of this till now. That sounds pretty crazy though. I wonder what uses I could find with this though.
I wonder if it could be used for a car PC?
keep in mind that most smartphones are quite a bit more powerful than this. Granted, they're also 10-20 times more expensive.
I'm tempted to get 5-6 of these and build a beowulf cluster out of them.
Yeah I looked at that ram and thought "Maybe I could do better with a tablet..."
For people who are wondering what some uses for the Raspberry Pi
Media center is the most obvious application of it though.
I wanted to post this earlier but didn't think of a post that could do it justice. Also wanted to look more into it before I did. Either way, this thread has reinvigorated my interests. Thanks for the heads up Atmosfear and cool link KT. I'd like to make a media center for my dad, and I want to look more into home-brew voicemail system. I think I read in some magazine or an on-line article where you can run your phone line over the internet.
