This is really not WTF news. Of course we share some genes; we're both mammals... Humans share genes with all mammals, and for that matter all eukaryotes. We share over 70% of our genes with fruit flies according to this CNN piece, or rather "about 61% of known human disease genes have a recognizable match in the genetic code of fruit flies," according to this NASA interview), so you're surprised that we share genes with another mammal?

And that ignorant idiot Palin spoke out about how fruit fly research is a waste of tax dollars. After having a science-phobic administration for the last 8 years, we dodged the bullet this time.

If I get around to it, I will take a picture of myself in 'roo pose and do some crap MSPaint work. It will be an accurate representation of what a djwolforoo would look like because that's what I do. I make pictures about what the offspring of myself and other random animals would look like. There, I said it.

So I got my camera back today to take a picture of myself in 'roo pose, and realized that there was no memory card in it. Between that and the batteries being discharged I'm thinking about disowning my immediate family.
