Prototype - Amazing gameplay

I cannot wait for this game it looks amazing. It kind of reminds me of a zombie-like GTA. Here is some info taken from ign. http://ps3.ign.com/objects/950/950253.html :

January 8, 2009 - In Prototype from Radical Entertainment (Scarface: The World is Yours, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction), the story begins with death. Yours, actually -- or so it seems. You are Alex Mercer, a hooded mystery man with a loving sister, a mother and a father. And you awaken to find yourself the subject of a bloody autopsy, a team of doctors about to dissect your corpse. But you haven't passed on. In fact, as you sprint from the hospital into the crowded streets of New York, something amuck in the distance, you discover that you are more powerful than ever, able to run at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour, to leap up buildings and to hurl two-ton objects with the greatest of ease. Yet you have no idea how you came to possess these fantastic abilities because you simply cannot remember anything that transpired before this fateful morning. Are you a super hero? The villain? You don't have the answers, but you can be damned sure you're going to find out.

Assassins creed anyone?

Lol, yea it's like a GTA/Assassins Creed/Zombie/Rambo game.

I have absolutely no idea what to make of this game.

Also, lol, I don't see how its like assassins creed apart from the way the main char dresses...

Either way this game looks epic.

That looked incredible however the beginning did remind me of assassin's creed. Haha it was cool when he was riding a human/infected like a skateboard for a second there.

There is another video where it shows that you can jump on a helicopter and hijack it, then drive it around. So Awesome!

Did you watch the vid?

The game does look pretty cool, but if you take away the music the game looks like any other game. I also have a feeling it would get repetitive, but who knows.

why is it necessary for him to sit on the guy and punch him in the face until his head explodes when he could have just sucked him up his butthole in the first place

All of the previews and such in various magazines I've seen have lead me to believe that this will be an awesome game.

However, it is also the type of game where I could end up very disappointed.

No knives like the picture you linked or any kind of armour.
The gameplay isn't that similar, only if you count jumping around, which most games have.

Wow this game is violent, guaranteed ban in some countries.

Meh, nothing out of the ordinary violence wise I wouldn't say.

These games tend to bore me quickly.

I'm not sure that qualifies for "amazing gameplay".

Certainly looks interesting, but it's not very clear if it will probably get boring very quickly or not.

It looks like it might be another one of those games where the programmers haven't asked themselves before where the excitement and challenge is, when your character already has god-like abilities from the get-go.

It looks like you have all the acrobatic stuff right off the bat, but it seems from the video that you unlock character transformations and things of that nature.

As are a lot of games, what's your point?

Violence for the sake of violence.

I guess it's not that violent compared to others like Gears of War 2 or something. The music just intensifies the violence. Still gory though.

I saw this a while ago, it looks pretty badass, definitely one to watch out for.

Man I'm already bored of that "Grab someone around the throat and crush their head with giant Cerberus arm" finisher, plus the "plunge arm into ground and watch hand spikes destroy tanks" shit.

This game looks like it could be fun for like an hour, but then you've seen everything and it just becomes another boring sandbox title.

The fact that it's got intuitive movement is what sold me

The perfect game, according to Nevrmore's argument, would be one that changes play style and mechanics consistently and in an original way every 30-40 minutes.

The first 10 minutes of the segment would be learning about the new moves and play type.

The next 10 minutes would be an intro mission.

The next 3 minutes would be a cut scene.

The next 7 minutes would be a challenge mission.

The last 10 minutes would be a boss fight. Or a flower planting. I mean, a game that wants to be over 10 hours is going to have to dig preeeetttty deep. So flower planting, or tree trimming, or head exploding, or melon carving. Lord knows you don't want a game that establishes parameters to play in and then play in them.

Man fallout was the same old "go adventuring through the wasteland" for like 60 hours.


I wish there had been some stock car racing, some juggling, and maybe even some god of war style fishing

It was the same old road warrior styled adventure. lame.

I know. I was expecting to grow wings and be able to fly, but instead all I did was pick locks and explore! What the fuck.

And don't even get me started on Ocarina of time.

Temple, kill boss, rinse, repeat. Worst game ever.

You're assuming I'm saying that a game has to keep itself fresh and original every ten minutes or else I'd hate it, which isn't what I'm saying, and also you're a dickfridge.

A good game takes something that it knows you're going to do a thousand times, ie: kiling an enemy, and makes sure it's fun every time.

Doing that lame "Crush their head with a big demon arm" thing looks like it gets boring really fucking fast, and considering they showed it like eight times in that one video alone, it makes me doubt they have anything else that adds a variety to defeating enemies that won't get stale just as quickly.

Uh, unless it's one of the main methods of dispatching basic foes. You know, like shooting someone. Some games, you shoot people. Some games you crush their heads.

Although I do like 'dickfridge'.

Did you play Conan? Sure there were only like 4 or 5 quick kills (per weapon set, but I digress)


but it was fucking fun every time.


Edit - Mal has a point. In Cod4, The only way to kill is to shoot people, and they fall over. Doesn't really get boring.
