Which do you play? What army do you play? Do you have any pictures of your painted figs?
I just got started with Imperial Guard. I''m choosing to use the Catachan Jungle Fighters.
I'll post pics of my figs as soon as I finish painting them (I'm working on two right now) in a few hours
just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to get enough figures to start out with?
I've never played but I've read tons of Warhammer 40k books and love them.

Sycld, like 100 bucks or so for the army and the codex and you'll have a big enough army. Maybe 40 bucks for paints (if you're being extravagant) will be all you'll need for a year or so
Many years ago I played WH40k. I had a fairly respectable Eldar Ulthwe army.
I'd also wanna play Blood Bowl. That game looks like endless fun.

I had a mostly-unpainted Dark Angels army from 2nd edition. I bought the rules and play 3rd some but now I hear it's on like 5th, and that's just too much.
I have a chaos army in the makes. I have a defiler that i've been working on a demon prince, and a couple chaos marines.
When you guys say painting are you actually painting?

I enjoyed painting them more then playing but I was also one of those kid who built models as a small child then moved on to model railroads and then finally I wanted models that killed each other with dice.
I built and painted a few both from fantasy and 40k but never learnt the rules. I think they are still around somewhere.

The table-top game is played sort of like a cross between a board game and the way that people played with soldier figurines as children. The game is played in turns, and dice determine the outcomes of actions, but the units are free to move about the game space freely with rulers determining distances and these nifty clear plastic overlays that display cones of fire and weapon ranges.

Yeah...the game's essentially based around some dice and a ruler. Each unit has a certain ballistic skill, wounds, armour rating etc etc. Turns are taken in three phases: movement, shooting and assault, if I remember correctly. Each unit can move certain distances and shoot certain distances based upon their stats. Various units also have special abilities and attacks.
It all gets fairly complicated, although it's not too hard to learn the basics.
I'll post pics if I can actually find my army.
I actually just sold all my fantasy stuff on ebay a month ago. I only got like $400 total for it, but I had impressive armies. I could play anything from 500 pt to 5000 pt games. Bretonnia and Chaos.
