My girlfriend and her period?

Hey guys, the other day I was talking to my girlfriend, who was in a very bad mood because she was on her period.

Now after talking to her about it, she told me that its "ok" because she only has her period 3 times a year?
So at this point I'm thinking "wtf"

She has told me that when she does get her few periods, that she has to take medicine (which I have heard is common) but also she said she hasn't told a doctor because she is afraid, but it also makes her happy because she doesn't have to put up with it often. And her mother just says she is lucky.

Now I'm not sure how common this is, but to me it doesn't seem normal and so it kinda worries me, any advice?

A lot of women take medicine to reduce how often they have periods. My mom told me she goes to the doctor's twice a year to almost never have them(wanted to kill myself after hearing about it).

There's a birth control pill called "Seasonale" which causes periods four times a year. I'm actually not sure if it's still on the market, but there are some that will cause less regular periods. Also, some women just have infrequent periods.

It's still on the market. It's quite populare too for college hoochies.

Yeah, irregular cycles are very probable. I was dating a girl once who always had 60 days in between her cycles, but I didn't know that. She was on her period, then as soon as she was off we had sex, then about 30 days later I was silently freaking the fuck out. Then it casually came up that she cycles every 60 days and I was like, whew.

Birth control and seasonal birth control both have effects on when the period will occur. Generally, monthly birth control makes it occur around the same time every month. Seasonal birth control and using multiple kinds of hormonal birth control may make a period happen every few months and can make it unpredictable. It also seems like these periods hit girls even harder so keep your head down for a couple days.
