Fundamentally, the train has plates as does the track.. when the train passes over the plate the polarity reverses pushing it forward. When the train needs to stop it uses the same principle. As the train approaches a plate the repels instead of attracts slowing it down. (or they just use brakes).
This would be awesome and I hope it is cheap and I get free rides because I'm in the military. I really want them to build a maglev all over the US.
America will be investing in traditional high speed rail before investing in maglev simply because the infrastructure is much cheaper to build.
