Help
Okay, I have Ubuntu on my laptop because its kind of a piece of shit and I got bored one day so I switched from XP to Ubuntu. Now, a year later, I want to switch back, but I realize now that I don't have any backup discs. Is there any way I can reinstall XP without having to torrent it? If not thats what I'll do, I just need to know my options here.

C'mon fuckers help. My laptop battery is dieing.

Okay, another question. I have the backup disc from a older Dell desktop I had a few years ago. Could I theoretically just use this and then download service packs?
-
I wish I could help you, but I have no idea.

Yeah, I posted the same question on a forum dedicated to Windows issues and no one could help me there either. I think I'm gonna have to reach out to the linux community for this one.

This happened to me when I installed ubuntu on my computer. Apparently it edits your master boot record so you can't access the dell system restore partition anymore. I just ended up downloading a copy of XP, that's probably the easiest solution.

Is there an XP partition still on your hard drive? Or did you format the whole thing to put linux on there? If XP is still there, you just need to fix the MBR, if not, you need to re-install Windows XP from your Dell Windows XP disc.

The partition is gone, I'll either have to use the Dell backup disc or download a copy. Ah well, I guess it'll be worth it once I have windows back.
