More specifically on concealed carry. So if someone could give me any good ideas for what topics should be discussed there in, I'd really appreciate it.
Also, I know a lot of people that post on this forum have an abundance of information on the subject (fm and smith, I'm looking at you two crazy bastards) so any links I could browse through would be greatly appreciated.
IMO, the most interesting CCW-related topic for a paper would be to examine the "shall-issue revolution"--the rapid spread of right-to-carry laws over the past 20 years. In 1988, only 8 states had "shall-issue" CCP laws, but today, I think 39 of them do. This happened because over the past two decades, pro-CCW groups were able to successfully convince dozens of state legislatures that "shall-issue" laws not only aren't dangerous, but in fact may make the public safer. Of course, anti-gun groups opposed them in every one of these states, and tried to convince the state legislatures of the opposite; they warned that if we allowed just anyone to get a CCW, the streets would be filled with blood as people shot each other over traffic disputes and stuff like that. But in almost every case, they failed, because the facts just weren't on their side. States that hadn't yet adopted "shall-issue" laws could look at what had happened in states that had already adopted them, and see that the anti-gun advocate's warnings were unrealistic. In fact, they could see that crime rates often declined after states adopted "shall-issue" laws. Every state that adopted "shall-issue" laws and didn't turn into the Wild West became another point of evidence in favor of the pro-CCW groups, and against the anti's. I think writing your paper about this would be a good way to simultaneously look at the politics and the public safety implications of CCW.

Be sure to use plenty of quotes from our founding fathers, freedom fighters, and authorities on weapons and their usage.
I'd actually avoid this, in general. Limit yourself to evidence that directly supports your thesis. Only quote the founding fathers if you are writing your paper about whether the founding fathers endorsed gun ownership; otherwise, a pro-gun quote from Thomas Jefferson, gratifying as it may be to us gun owners, is basically irrelevant and isn't going to impress anyone reading your paper as anything more than a pro-gun polemic. Similarly, only quote freedom fighters if you are writing your paper about whether gun ownership facilitates "freedom fighting" or guerilla/insurgency warfare. Quoting firearms authorities is fine, as long as what they are saying supports your thesis. Since your paper is about concealed carry, then the main sources you will want to quote will be research and statistical data that deals with concealed carry in some way; definitely NOT anything about the founding fathers or freedom fighters or whatever. And be careful about using information sourced on guncite.com and so forth. Those sites are useful, but often read a lot into their sources. If you see a piece of information that you want to use on guncite.com or a similar site, track down and read the original source to make sure it really supports your thesis. Don't just take it on faith that such-and-such DOJ report says such-and-such about guns, just because guncite says so.Quote:
