I've fallen for my best friend

It's been a few months now since I started liking her and believe me, it's been hard.
We've been best friends for about 2 or 3 years, and now I can't stop thinking about her.

I'm so scared to tell her I like her though because I have a feeling she'll freak out and stop talking to me, though a lot of my friends say go for it, she might have similar feelings.

Another thing is, she's only kissed one guy, me. I just decided to kiss her one day. I took her to a quiet place and told her there was something I wanted to give her, I told her to hold out her hands and close her eyes. The went in for the kill. :) It was the best, she kissed me back, and then at a party two nights ago she kissed me again.
I'm taking to the cinema this week and was gonna try it on with her again.

What do you guys think? Am I threatening my relationship, or do you think I have a good chance?

Dude, she kissed you back. Stop worrying about what may or may not happen in the future and enjoy what you have while you have it. It'll work out or it won't. C'est la vie.

Yes, of course you're risking losing your friendship. You're obviously pretty young and if you do start a relationship then, face it, it's not going to last forever.

However, if you don't go for it you'll spend the rest of your love life, happy or not, with that thought chiselling away at the back of your mind. "Would it have been better with her?"

So yeah, it's a mistake, without a doubt. But life is mistakes and this is one of those that you have to make. You're at least half-guaranteed some pretty good times out of the deal.

For the record, this has happened to me before, and I didn't make a move. A year later she told me she used to have a thing for me, back then. A couple years later now, we aren't even really friends anymore. Better to give it a chance and find out than not. As simonj said, your friendship won't last forever anyways. And no, it doesn't still bother me, but I do occasionally wonder what would have been different.

No, I said a relationship won't last forever. I meant that their friendship could last forever (or at least a pretty long time) but, even so, it's worth the risk because it's something you need to go through to grow as a person.

For the record, this happened to me, I didn't make a move and instead went out with a psycho Jew for a couple of years and we had some good times and we had a lot of bad times. The other girl went out with a 40 year old, had two kids (one died) and last I heard she was on antidepressants shacked up with a lesbian.

So there you go, an irrelevant yet slightly related story.

I used to be best friends with a girl, we'd call/text eachother all day etc. We were closer than best friends. I used to go to her house, and wed sit on the couch cuddled together watching films etc. We spent a night together just sat on her bed talking, ticking eachother, play fighting and whatever. I never made a move though. I was crazy about her then, and now I look back on it I'm certain she was too. I was too pussy to tell her, and I know she was a nervous girl.

That was like 4 years ago now. I've been with my current girlfriend for about 2 years, I wouldn't give her up for anything, but I still find myself wondering about this girl. We haven't talked in about 3 years, and shes changed so much now that I don't think we'd get along atall, but still, I wish I knew what would have happened. At the time I'd have given anything to be with her but I was too scared to say anything, and now I'm still regretting it. I've dreamed about being with her multiple times, even recently. I'd never try anything with her now, because I love my girlfriend, but also because I know I'd hate her now. It's just because I never found out. Looking back, I'd rather have told her and lost her as a friend that instant, than not saying anything and knowing I'd still feel like this.
