I was wondering if any of you guys knew how to make a DVD out of a video file? Like, so you could play said file in an actual DVD player? I got a .avi to DVD program but it doesn't seem to work so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

What O/S are you using, if you are on Vista an extremely simple solution is Windows DVD maker, it offers a small amount of customization and will do what you want.
Otherwise I think some of the Nero suites have that capability.

if you are trying to burn an .avi so it will play on a dvd player I have always used nero vision. You can obtain it along with the rest of the nero suite through methods of questionable legality. Nero Vision is really easy to use though and you can make a menu, chapters and other shit. There are probably better programs out there but this one works all the time.
