No thread on MJ here yet?

I don't care much either way, people live, they die. Still, most people who grew up in the '70s and '80s couldn't help but hear Michael Jackson once or twice. Though not usually my cup of tea, I will crank up some of his earlier Jackson 5 or solo stuff when it comes on the radio, and I recall attempting to break dance to songs from the Thriller album when I was four or five. It is easy to see how he became so popular, from childhood star to pop star who crossed boundaries and became one of the biggest names in music. Unfortunately, during the '90s he became almost as well known for his legal issues as for his music. Anyway, this thread is about MJ the artist, not the man or his death.

I don't really listen to him but he was an amazing artist with an astounding talent and some awesome songs and, come 15 or 20 years, it is those which people will remember.

How did his voice stay at such a high pitch after puberty? Was he castrated or something?

I'm pretty sure Thriller was the first CD I ever owned.

Prices for his music be it CDs or LPs are shooting through the roof. I have the thriller picture disc I might feel bad if I sell it.

i must admit that i kind of like some of his songs, like thriller and some of his more balladic stuff that is often overlooked. and one mustn't ignore his work in the jackson 5.

Yeah, I'd feel pretty bad too if I got jack shit from selling a record.

Prices going through the roof my ass.

Prices for the original copies from the 80s will be high for a few weeks, and then prices will return to normal.

Let's see... This is the forum devoted to music. There are plenty of other threads all more or less about his public and private life and especially his death. This thread is about his music.

I remember the weird looking black guy from the Eighties that seemed to dominate the radio. By the early-Nineties, his music was just something to turn off, especially that annoying "Black or White" song which I thought was about him. There are songs I crank up (mostly from the Thriller album) and songs that get turned off as quickly as Janet's songs do (anything after Bad, and many songs from that album). Now that he's dead this won't change.

Micheal Jackson had a couple good songs. He brought Eddie Van Halen and Slash to play a couple of the solos in his songs.
His career more or less ended when his hair was set on fire. he was never the same since.
He was also a creep.
