The Colony Experiment
First off, the trailer : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOKO19BMPKk.
Pretty much ten people are put in a evacuated town that has been scraped to see if they can survive. For ten weeks they will be given real scenario challenges by experts that include finding food, water, creating shelter, and attempting to contact other survivors. I gotta say that I'm a big fan of the whole end-of-the-world thing (Water World, Road Warrior, Judge Dredd, I got all the collector additions) and this looks pretty sweet.
Of course there are a few things that are going to suck about it. First off, you can't bash the skulls in on the gang that is harassing you, you have to stay within the experiment's boarders, etc. So pretty much the whole realistic "survival" scenarios are out the window. Still, as a controlled experiment I think this is going to be really interesting to watch and see how ten people pull together and work as a team.

Hope it is better than Kid Nation.

Just watched it, wasnt too bad. Seems like they are moving too slow getting started. 4 days in and they have only done three things.
-
They were pretty important, though, and most had to do with water anyway.
-
I dunno, seems like them rigging up some lights could have been put on the back burner and it took them three days to figure out water storage. But then I cant say I wouldnt do the same in their place.
-
Dammit! I shouldn't have read this. I recorded it and haven't watched it yet. But I'm glad it didn't get scathing reviews from you guys because honestly, I think this is a great idea. I mean, if they could throw Super Mutants into the mix then I will worship the directors.
-
Yeah, I know what you mean. They probably got a lot more done, but it was the vein of scavenging the warehouse and gathering initial supplies, though. Maybe some tidying.
-
At one point I expect:
Zombies
Randall Flagg
Vampires

Im wondering about their food, they dont seem too worried about what they have. Makes me wonder if the producers told them that they could scavenge for food when they run out.
-
Well, they have enough food to last for more than 1/7 of the time they're staying. Getting lights and water, I would think, is more important, then fortifications to keep the place up when you're out looking for food.
