Can't connect to xbl

So I'm trying to connect my roomate's 360 to live but the MTU thing ails everytime. It says that it's below 1396 or whatever the magic number is. Problem is that I don't can't change it to 1500 because I'm connected through a gigantic network and I don't know even where to begin to try and fix this.

Any ideas?

That's packet size, in some for home use routers you can change it, but in a professional router, like a Cisco or SonicWALL you can definitely change the MTU. When you say you connect through a gigantic network, does that mean like a college campus or what? If you have no access to the network administration stuff then you would need to put a ticket into the IT group there and explain to them what's going on.

They likely have the MTU set to that specific number for a reason though.
