And the central government never makes mistakes for which it tries to blame the local governments, nor does it use hatred zeal towards Japan to serve as a means of releasing its citizens' tension and bolstering their sense of nationalism.Quote:

Dude, he didn't defend China's central government in the slightest, all he did was point out that the local governments are usually riddled with corruption too. That doesn't mean he's saying the central government is right to blame them for things that aren't their fault. He CERTAINLY never said that don't they use anti-Japanese hype to direct public unhappiness outwards, so I don't know why you are even bringing that issue up as if it's something he had denied.

At least the PRC respected Tibetan and Uighur ethnic autonomy for a while under Mao. Also the Zhuang and other peoples enjoyed autonomy and looked more favorably to the Communists. The Republic of China, by contrast, pretty much said "Anything that went independent from us is a damn lie" and denied the independence of Mongolia, for example. Also they weren't too kind towards the actual ethnic Taiwanese, treating them more like conquered peoples than "Hey, we're both on this island together."Quote:
