Microsoft bans up to 1 million Xbox Live users

Yeah, they're doing it in the name of righteousness. They have no other blindingly obvious motivations whatsoever.

My roommate and some of my other friends were some of the many that got banned. I don't exactly understand what MS plans to achieve. They won't be getting the money for Live anymore and they can still play pirated games. The most they may get out of it is the people buying a new console. But I know my roommate and the other kids I know that got banned aren't about to go out and buy a brand new one. They'll probably buy a used one.

Can't you also play the 360 online free by routing it though a comp first?
