i would like to petition for this to be brought back
i mean, if people want to share ideas for food without getting flamed, the mess hall would offer sanctuary
i have a few recipes i would like to share without having to clog up othe forums with off topic discussion and i would also like to see other peoples ideas

The problem's content. Do we have any threads about food? I've seen the odd thread in flames, but it's not really enough to sustain a forum. Back on LWS the answer to questions like this was always "provide content". If you want a Mess Hall, and this goes for anybody else who's interested too, make relevant threads and prove there'd be enough activity to make it worthwhile, then dump some links in this thread so they can be found. If there's enough interest to warrant it, either someone with actual authority will get back to you or I'll whine about it in the mod forum.

I created Basic Food Groups in hopes to get this subforum. There is no activity in there. 5 threads.
If we add the ones from this search there would be 56 more or less. That is more than double of S-Mart.
I blame the administration. Groups aren't quite apparent and food threads aren't always labeled The Mess Hall. We ask NAY WE DEMAND THAT THIS BE FIXED! Also don't call it The Mess Hall because that's a stupid name.
ok listen make some threads in CD and generate like, any real activity, and we'll open up the mess hall or its new equivalent.
with a community like ours that isn't exactly scooping up new members like hotcaks, i don't see why it really makes a difference whether we have a new forum to put recipes in. there's like 30 of us and we all post in CD and flams so it'll get seen and responded to in there more than it would in the mess hall anyway. if we open up a new forum about food a couple of people will post in it a couple of times and nobody else will bother looking.
until there's ANY demand for it (demand in terms of activity, not in terms of people asking for it) the mess hall will stay closed
tell you what make 10 food threads in CD over 2012 and we'll consider bringing it in for a 2015 release
I'm going to wait until a real admin chimes in.
