I have a D-link router in which I share with 3 of my roomates. At times, the amount of people Torrenting makes it impossible for me to even load up Google.
Is there a way for me to block their internet through my routers admin controls. I can't seem to figure it out on my own.

Why not just ask them not to torrent during the day?
Well, you could just change the wireless encryption password, or if there is no password put one on it. That would be easiest. Or you could get the MAC addresses of their Wireless NIC and and do mac address filtering blocking them by mac address.
If its hardwired only use MAC filtering. Or turn the DHCP server off in the router and give yourself a static IP address, chances are they won't be able to give themselves one to get on the network.
Tell them to cap their uploads. Problem solved.

Better than locking his roommates out of the router. I assume they split the bill.

I gave you relevant advice. Tell your roommates to cap their uploads with their torrent apps. There's no need to play babysitter with your roommates. :solepat:Quote:

If yours is anything like mine:
Type: 192.168.0.1 into your browser address bar.
Go to 'Advanced' settings
Click on 'Network Filter'
Turn on MAC filtering and pick which computers you want to block.
Harner's advice was the most relevant, long-term solution.
Though MAC filtering is a good short-term solution if you need the bandwidth right this second. It would be common courtesy to restore them once you're done, though.
Well sure asking them to cap downloads works IF he doesn't want to block them altogether, but according to his statement, I am led to believe that he wants to permanently block them from accessing his internet, in which MAC filtering or changing the encryption key is a better permanent solution.Quote:
