(500) Days of Summer

This wasn't an awful movie in my opinion, but it was weighted down by the hipster soundtrack (at some point people will shut the fuck up about the Smiths) and the quirky indie shit. Plus, part of the movie was to make you realize Zooey Deschanel's character was not a cold bitch when in reality they gave you no reason to sympathize with her other than the fact that she told Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character ONE TIME she didn't want anything serious.

Yup. You should constantly remind the other party that you're only looking for something casual. All the time. Every time they meet up, I'd think.

Or, you know, more than once in a period of a year and a half.

Why? What would indicate that her feelings towards him have changed, besides the overt hostility she later showed him? That's a pretty big tipping point that she's not looking for the same thing he is.

Because throughout the entire movie she acted in ways that would indicate she wanted more than a relationship. If that's her only real defense, that she told him that one time that she didn't want one, then the movie failed at making her a sympathetic character.

See, casual sex and friendliness coming from someone who told me they didn't want a relationship would lead me to either leave, or deal with the free, hot sex and friendship from someone as oddly enchanting as Summer. I guess Tom blows through stop signs and rides in ended lanes if the trouble he has reading signs is any indication.

I kinda hated it. The flash forward/flash back thing was really just a distraction from it's contrived, uninteresting plot. It had some funny moments, but not a lot actually happened.

If you've been in a relationship, then the movie has emotional punch to it.

I agree that she was a cold bitch, but the movie did have an emotional appeal.

Saw this movie in school...hated the ending

Posting to say I watched the dark knight on hbo this morning and it was easily 50 out of 10 500 days of summer
