I have been throwing around the idea of getting a .308 AR for quite a while now. My and one of my shooting buddies have been talking about them for a while now. Well last weekend at the gun show he decided to buy a Springfield M1A. So that put my ass into gear to get my .308.

Actually, those POF's are freaking nice. I love, love, loooove the trigger guard on those.

M1As are nice. But I want this. The POFs are top of the line. Nickel plating on the inside of the upper etc etc.
It's that fancy new finish that supposedly never needs lube, right?
Yea. NP3 I think its called. Ill be getting the one thats all black though.
Oh and I wont be running it dry unless I absolutely have to. I may run it dry for a little bit to see how it functions. But thats about it.
Yeah, I saw that they sell 1911 kits (slides and frames) with that finish, and I though, "how the hell are you supposed to fit the slide and frame, then? That would remove all of the NP3"
Well thats pretty dumb.
The AR platform is old tech, How about something new and a little bit different.
