Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavs got fined 100k by nba for this angry letter he wrote following Lebron's signing in Miami:

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight: "I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA Championship before the self-titled former 'king' wins one." You can take it to the bank. If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there. Sorry, but that's simply not how it works. This shocking act of disloyalty from our homegrown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow up to become.
But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio. The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland. Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day... I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only: DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue...

The fans reacted with huge signs of support for Gilbert and his letter, some even trying to raise funds on his behalf to pay the fine. At first I thought haha that's kind of neat that the fans show that much support. I am sure it is a non issue and anything raised on his behalf will be donated to a charity or something (it better) but the concept that people would want to fundraise for a megamillionaire like Gilbert over something silly like this bothers me.

Logically it makes no sense to prevent players that aren't under contract from speaking to other players about their teams. You probably don't because you're a mouth-breathing breeder, but it's common practice in every industry to research a potential employer.

this is pretty much the order:
football
basketball
hockey/soccer (they are the same one is on ice the other is on grass)
volleyball (women's)
baseball/softball

I'd never actually watch the last two unless I was promised beer but women's volleyball edges out baseball because the right match is a total titparade and baseball will always be the most boring team sport

of course there are non-team sports but those will always be far less exciting than football and basketball.

It seems that I am able to grasp the concept of contractual agreements. Highlighting the word "player" doesn't change that.

Regarding the "summit" of Bosh, Wade, and James:
The three of them were out of their contracts. It was illegal for teams to negotiate with players until a few days later (Thursday, I think.) Players had already declared themselves free agents, thus preventing themselves from being contacted by their own teams. If they were still under contracts, the Raptors/Cavs/Heat could have called them each, respectively.

And, once again, how do I know that all of these actions you're bitching about were legal? I don't need to check a rulebook, because there are various others who do that for us, most notably the various teams that would have an interest in benefiting from the misconduct on the part of a player or manager for a competing team.
