This could be pretty good, If its anything like the Bloodmoon expansion for Morrowind then I am happy.
Anyone else play these games at all?

I enjoyed Tribunal a lot more than Bloodmoon
dumb Nords and their mead
the landscape will be cool though
I quite liked both. However werewolves were always going to be more appealing to me.
I liked this plot better when it was called Dragon Age: Origins
I was hoping for actual gameplay footage.
Well, being a fan of the Oblivion games, i was anticipating this upcoming game. Fans of oblivion have anticipated the game too no doubt, because; I, myself, and probably many others, thought the game to not continue. So, i think its great just because... Shiny and new. and I love Oblivion ;)
You liked Oblivion, because "the Oblivion Games" are "The Elder Scrolls"....
anyways.
Is this going to be MMO, or Multiplayer at all, because I'm going to cream myself whenever I can take my Argonian Assassin and run with my friend's High Elf Healer/Cleric(and if it's MMO/Multiplayer then the white mages become useful).
That is my only dream for TES's is MMO, like allow a host to host a game, like in Borderlands, and allow 5-30+ players to join and quest around or something. It'd be sexy.
I'm looking forward to this, I loved Oblivion, probably my all-time favorite game.
That trailer was sort of awful.
And Oblivion was a great but overly long demo illustrating all of the capabilities of the game engine used. Too bad it was never fleshed out into a full game.
But at least Fallout 3 was a well-done complete game made with the same engine.
skyrim is just going to be fallout 3 without guns
I never liked oblivion when it came out, it always felt too forced (the rigid jumping, the blind hacking and slashing of melee fighting).
Hopefully Skyrim will be what oblivion should have been.
I'm cautious about Skyrim and will be waiting later to play it. Playing it ASAP isn't a priority, but I look forward to hearing some positive reviews to really urge me to buy it sooner than later. If I hear nothing claiming how overwhelmingly good it is then I'll wait for a year or two.
Eat acid and play Skyrim, it will be amazing(I've become my character in Oblivion numerous times while playing and tripping).
But the game's still gonna be GRRRRRRR-RAPE even without drugs.
Just bought and preloaded on steam. Pretty fucking excited now, managed to hold it off until now.
Hmm, only 4.3 gigs... I was expecting it to be bigger.
Weeee'll see just how good this game is. I hope that was 380.87 RMB well spent.
The perks are boring. There are 18 skills, and perks are assigned to each skill. All the Magic skills, which correspond to schools of magic, have perks that do the same thing, like make spells cost 50% less Magicka. Yawn.
I gave in. I won't be able to play it with awesome graphics but I want to play this game and I'm on vacation for the next two months. Downloading right now off Steam.

As we've mentioned previously, Skyrim features Radiant Story, a dynamic system that creates random encounters based on a player's progress.
Part of that system is the ability to infinitely generate quests to always give the player something to do.
Yes! I will fetch item X and bring it to person Y at location Z at time 00:00 as many times as you let me. :) Also, will kill Monster A and bring you # of B to fulfill your ingredient list for some awesome potion.
But, but it's dynamic!!!
Gamespot already has a review, just short of giving it an overall rating out of 10. Sheesh.

just gone midnight....decrypting 17%
i'm going to play this game and not read this thread
after just over an hour of playing....
wow, it is awesome.
there is this website reddit maybe you've heard it well they've been jizzing all over this game for the past 6 months so if you need a circle to jerk in it's that way ------------>
30 more minutes! Found this interesting video How to Steal in Skyrim.
EDIT - Please just finish decrypting. I'm tired of waiting and feeling really sleepy.
This game is awesome, been playing since about 2.
So far... feels like Fallout 3 with bows and arrows and poorly adapted console controls. I mean it really does.
And I'm unimpressed with the graphics at ultra high settings.
Been playing for a bit on all low. Gosh, I wish had a desktop with some nice gear, but this game is still freaking awesome. Don't want to go to sleep.
EDIT - Y axis sensitivity is aggravating but X axis is fine. Kind of aggravating. Anyways, just killed a bear and I need to go to sleep.
i dont know why but i bought this on ps3 rather than pc even though i have a pc that can run it on max settings but whatever i gotta wait for it to come in the mail
My reaction was, "Eh, this game is alright I suppose."
Then somehow while playing the game, 5 hours passed, from midnight to 5 AM.
I would have kept on playing if the game hadn't suddenly close itself.
Well, all I'm doing is waiting here on base to get processed out and my car is states away, so I'm glad this came out to keep me occupied.
Also, don't mess with giants.
I've accidentally killed a chicken and the whole town is out for my blood and I can't surrender. :\
I'm glad the game occasionally crashes, because otherwise I wouldn't stop playing it.
I haven't had any crashes yet.
I've only had one crash and it was painless and quick. Just started the game right back up. Also just got through Bleak Falls Barrow and the mine south of Riverwood. Is there any point to that mine? Still anticipating my first dragon battle.
EDIT - This guy messed around with the graphics to make it look like TF2. http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comme...hics_settings/
EDIT 2

Hah, giant using a saber-toothed cat for batting practice.
The reason why the graphics look "bad," or at least not nearly as good as they could on a PC, is because it's really a port of an Xbox 360 game onto PC. Though some graphical enhancements were added in the PC port, it can't take full advantage of more powerful hardware.
Like I hate that I can see pixelation in many of the textures, just as an example of a very basic put important issue. This isn't 2005.
It absolutely sucks how new PC releases are now all just direct ports of console games, with the exception of PC-only releases of course.
Is there ANY reason why casters should wear cloth over light armor? I simply see no advantage, considering that light armor can have the exact same spell enhancements as well...
I guess spell-enhancing light armor is harder to find, and if you want to enchant it you have to both level enchanting and get souls high enough to make it worth it.
Honestly, I'm glad the graphics aren't that great because I'm playing with a shitty Intel HD Accelerated graphics card on my laptop and it lets play on low for everything *whew*. I tried higher settings but it gets choppy. However, when I build that badass PC I do want to play this game on max settings because screenshots of this game look absolutely gorgeous. I'll post some of those I've seen.
Purist mage? Carry more loot for cash to buy spells and enchantments.
Some of these screenshots show how amazing this game looks and other screenshots I just thought were cool.
I cannot see how people can say the graphics on this game are bad. It's no bf3, but its fucking huge, the amount of content and attention to detail...what the fuck do they expect? in under 5gb (unless i am imagining seeing this) as well jesus.
I think its beautiful.
Also just killed my first dragon and also lol werewolves.
btw try dropping some stuff around people :o
also sycld you should totally lvl ench and souls, that would go so well with an evil caster or something, not to mention it'd be so satisfying once you have a full set of caster light armour lol.
also you'd be a fucking badass.
I ended up buying this game because I took my friend to the midnight release and he had an extra preorder. I haven't had a chance to play it yet.
As long as it's better than Oblivion I will be pleased. Not a big fan of that one.
Damn those SS's did it for me.
I've gotta get a new xbox and buy this game.
Well, why the fuck did it HAVE to be under 5 GB? What's imposing that limit, in your mind?
The problem is that the game was made to be played on 5 year old hardware (i.e. the Xbox 360), and when it was ported to the PC, Bethesda didn't bother enhancing the graphics to the point that the game could take full advantage of modern hardware.
I do think the game looks good, but those screenshots actually illustrate a good number of the problems: aliasing of foliage textures (I find this REALLY distracting), low-res textures, etc. Yes, of course everything looks best from a distance, but to play the game you gotta look at things up close.
Look, the point is that when games were developed for PCs first, they were allowed to push the envelope if you had the hardware to support it (or if you didn't you probably could get a good experience at lower level settings). Now, it seems that more and more games are being made for the out-dated hardware of consoles first, then ported to PCs without enough of an enhancement to their graphics to support modern hardware.
I got frustrated with morrowind because I seemed to have lost the main storyline. I kept dying in Oblivion. I've dumped about 20 hours into this in the last couple days, and I'm fucking loving it.
FUS RO DAH motherfuckers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnNcyY6zQYw
You kept dying in Oblivion? That game was pretty easy
Kinda sucks that it was ported with glaring issues that would've been easy to fix, but its easy to get used to the fucked up menus pretty quickly and once you get past that this game is tits-tacular
Ugh... I was having fun, but then I ran into this one fucking mainline story quest that would be best done with sneaking, but can be fought through. The main problem is I don't have my gear because it's mostly taken from you during the quest.
lol you misunderstand me, I never said it had to be under 5gb ( turns out its over anyway, 5.7gb), just that it was around that mark. my point was that thats's pretty fucking impressive to get this amount of content and the graphics the way they are (awesome) and people are still complaining how it looks.
edit: also i'd like to say that this is probably the best console port i've ever seen.
I can understand this. I'm not to exaggerate so much by calling it terrible looking; it is a beautiful game.
And it's a decent console port, since most are even worse.
But it sucks that the game had to be a console port, at all.
Anyway I got passed the thing I was whining about using a well-placed Fury spell; why sneak around enemies when you can just have them kill each other?
Almost all my perks are going to be based around magic: focusing mainly on Destruction, Illusion, and Conjuration, with some points in Restoration (the increased Magicka recharge rate talent is low in the tree), and some in Enchantment (so I can wear light armor with the same magic-enchancing attributes) and Alchemy (at least the low lying ones that enhance health and magicka potions).
And, of course, I'm leveling Light Armor just by getting hit and wearing it, and Lockpicking just by picking every lock I come across.
But who would ever spend perks in Speechcraft? It looks like a useless perk tree.
uhhh for real? I think speech sounds pretty fucking good...
Can sell any type of item to any kind of merchant.
Can invest 500 gold with a shopkeeper to increase his available gold permanently.
Can barter stolen goods with any merchant you have invested in.
Every merchant in the world gains 1000 gold for bartering.
Can bribe guards to ignore crimes.
all of those sound pretty wonderful to me.
Awesome, so after some speech work you can barter stolen shit to regular merchants? I hated that in Oblivion, I figured "Hey, I stole this in Burma and this is Anvil... I'm separated by a few days ride and you know it's stolen?" that did not work logically in my head.
Yeah speech is pretty good, I'll probably end up maxing out those perks (25k for the Solitude house will take awhile)
My other main skills are one-handed, heavy armor which I will get through the useless perks of fistfighting and something else to get the awesome perk of moving at regular speed. I also use destruction, and restoration for healing, so I don't think I'll put many more perks that I have already into restoration. I've got a few in blocking but am holding off on more as lately I find myself using destructive spells with a sword more and more.
Killed my first dragon the other day after having been slaughted by them a couple of times. Felt good, man. Once you level up enough, obviously, and more importantly find a rhythm to how your character best works against them its not too hard really.
I have a 2 handed axe. it is named Wuulthrad. perhaps you've heard of it.
name rings a bell.
i have a dwarven soul collecting bow atm
edit: how many hours you guys played btw. i have 34 hours btw. and yeah i dont think im far at all. i still need to get jargen windcallers horn or w/e.
I got about 36.5 hours in, not even near done me thinks.
That makes sense... I didn't even look at the talent tree, so I just took Speechcraft to affect Persuasion dialogue options and a flat discount on merchant items.
What I would really like to know is exactly how each skill's level affects abilities associated with that skill.
Also, being a pure caster can be hard at times, especially in dungeons where there's little room to maneuver. Mostly wearing cloth, I'm dead if I get hit 2 or 3 times, or 1 time if it's a power attack. I'm stupid for not investing in Alteration, but I liked Illusion, Conjuration, and Destruction so much more. And Restoration's wards are so weird.
But it does force me to use sneaky maneuvers, like using Muffle to make my footsteps soundless so I can summon a Flame Attronach in front of my enemies then sneak away quickly, or using Fury to force my enemies to kill each other before they see me.
Yeah no kidding.
Some of the side quests are so epic that I just forget the main story altogether.
I may not even complete the main story until a later play-through.
Finally someone made an open world that's crammed with incredible surprises and unique locations everywhere, rather than 50 of the same dungeon layouts with different color spiders like in Oblivion and claiming "there's so much content."
sycld, if there is little room to maneuver, use Flames. Since I use a spell and a sword, I use firebolt like a rifle and flames like a shotgun for close and dirty work. When you level up it's pretty freaking strong, just keep running backwards when they swing and you'll be fine.
This game is automatically better than Oblivion because it doesnt have oblivion gates to the same boring generated worlds 15x over. This game is really pretty, (trying to avoid spoilers) the quest with the big tree is the prettiest thing in a game pretty much ever, and the quest where you have to avenge yourself against some double-crossing no-good lizard thieves is a pretty cool atmosphere too.
Yeah, that's my go-to spell, unless there are specific inherent spell weaknesses or resistances affecting my target. Casters, of course, get shocked.
And I usually do the run backwards thing. The problem is when I accidentally backup into a wall or are facing multiple mobs. Switching from casting to unrelenting force takes enough time for me to get killed.
Meh, I suppose I'm just a clumsy player and get my character trapped more often than I should. But I'm still able to get through the game even if it takes me a few more attempts than it would others.
Oh yeah--does anyone use wards, at all? I've decided to forgo them completely. I've tried them before, but they're a huge drain on mana, and even when I do manage to block an attack I'm not ready to counter.
Wards are for pure mages, not to be used like the NPCs do (for prolonged periods) but rather how you'd use your shield, in appropriately-timed bursts.
If you happen to be on PC and haven't set up your favorites and/or hotkeys, do yourself a favor and do it already.
Yeah I am a pure mage, but I still find wards unwieldy. even to use in bursts. If it's spell damage, it's almost always one of those channeledl continuous stream spells that I should avoid by moving, and if it's melee damage I should be moving out of the way or I'll just get hit again. Eh, I guess I should try it more often when I get trapped.
Also, there are no hotkeys on the PC version, so it's just like the console. But yeah I have my favorites mostly set up.
There are no hotkeys YET. I'm sure a mod will come out for it soon.
Also, changing my FOV to 95 makes this game soooooo much easier to play.
lmao
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcgLMg0zDM4
this is why i want a melee char
so i played a couple of hours of it and it's exactly like oblivion only with slightly worse graphics
also snow
obvious troll is obvious nermy, you can do better
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=131
THE COLORS DUKE!!!THE COLORS!!!!
well i dont see how you can think the graphics are worse than oblivion
alright well that part I was trolling I don't actually remember what oblivion's graphics looked like
I played a bit more and it's still pretty much identical to oblivion in almost every way gameplay wise. I like being able to dual wield daggers though.
I like wielding magic and a weapon at the same time. Also, I really like the leveling system as opposed to Oblivion. I feel like I can go any direction I choose and play as any style.
oh yeah no doubt about the gameplay being identical to oblivion.
its just that its all done so much better, better dungeons, more variety etc...
i really didn't like oblivion at first, skyrim is what oblivion should have been.
well the problem is i'm an obsessive compulsive dungeon delver so the unnecessarily large dungeons piss me off because I spend a long time searching every corner and all I have to show for it is some extra cabbage
Hey guys is alchemy still broken like it was in morrowind?
Does broken alchemy lead to broken enchanting and infinite money like it does in morrowind?
Did you kill Caesar's Legion and ally with the NCR without guns yet?
i thought the dungeons were smaller than oblivion to be honest. only a couple extra rooms that are tagged onto the main path. i usually find gold and potions, maybe a soulgem or some nice books if im lucky.
also most dungeons have a way out path at the end, saving for tracking back on yourself, which is nice.
no, they have improved the alchemy a lot compared to oblivion. it actually keeps track of what potion effects you've learned now, which is nice.
there is no broken alchemy, i thought enchanting might have a small bug but after further research, turns out it doesn't and all is well.
yes i slaughtered caesar's legion months ago, maybe even a year ago :) ballistic fist ftw.
they do but only minimaly...potion of smithing, and fortify alchemy enchant.
So have any of you guys completed this yet?
Completed? Haha, I have like 80 hours into it and haven't completed the 3rd main questline quest yet. I'm gonna have at least 300 hours in this before I'm done.
yeah...i'm on 137 hours played and im on the 11th main quest lol...
i love this game.
I finished the main questline. kinda lost interest in it.
I remember in Oblivion I forgot all about the main quest until I was well over 500+ hours in(I didn't fast travel too much, unless I needed to sell/turn in quests, because I wanted to explore all of Cyrodil), then when I beat that, I went and fucked around some more.
I need to stop checking reviews and shit on this game
I never quite understand it when people buy a game and then continue to read reviews of it. Shows a worrying lack of confidence in ones own opinion.
I don't own the game, yet, it'll probably be after the holidays before I get a new xbox etc... so for right now it's just wishes
I took a break to finish up my Dragon Age Origins game, and I'm almost done with that to get back into Skyrim.
