Self Taught Computer Programming games

I can't afford computer school. I wouldn't listen to my rap songs. So it is gonna take a lot of work. If I can't make it as a rapper, I have to look at something else to do. I heard it can be done. But it is really hard, you have to be extremely dedicated, know what you are doing, employers usually prefer to hire people with degrees. Do you think it would be possible to make your own games and sell them for money or make some money programming by teaching yourself how to program or would this be too hard to do?

how should I? should I just use google to search for topics, such as how to make games, how to program games? Should I use google to search for programming tutorials and download the programs, to practice?

Thanks, I am not good with linux. I am use to microsoft. This would probably take me a long time for me to understand what is going on. Come to think of it, I am actually not good at programming, I haven't done it in awhile. Sometimes I would make mistakes. It was hard for me.

oh ok, well the frame buffer hardware is also used in windows but it is harder to use there. So you should search for "directx visual basic"

directx is the windows game technology
visual basic is a computer language microsoft made for windows that is much easier than languages like assembly or C but still very fast, half life 2 (a very popular game) was actually written in visual basic

Is this the same thing as visual basic? I used to have a compiler for it. But my computer crashed. I used it a little bit. Just programming things that someone else created, not to program my own games.

I was talking to this guy I know. He is pretty good at computers in my opinion. He is taking computer programming classes at university this year. He said that he thought this was strange. He said that he thinks web design is actually more competitive because of outsourcing especially to India. He seemed really confused, and wondered why you thought that. So I told him I would talk to you about this.

So now I am the one confused, who is right him or you?

The sad part about this is every time I apply for a job and don`t get hired, there are less and less options for me. One day, I might have to apply as one, because there will only be so many jobs left that may think about hiring me.
