Moving out of state

Any tips from experienced long distance movers? I'm beginning to plan a move this summer. As somebody who's never moved before, I'm not quite sure what sort of problems I may or may not run into. I could probably find more information by doing a little social research, but I'd like as much input as possible from all sources, including my beloved LWS community.

Things I've considered:
- Change of address
- Drivers license, state id, etc
- Transferring schools
- Finding new work
- Living arrangement

Also consider:

-Filing income taxes in both states the first year
-Mail forwarding
-Finding new social groups and venues (bars, clubs, restaurants, etc)
-Changing phone carriers (especially if you have a regional cell service)
