My gf gets hit on at work.

Ok so my girlfriend has this job serving at a diner. We talk on the phone all the time, because we live in different cities, and she tells me how she got hit on at work. So I tell her that "it pisses me off that she gets hit on and its perfectly normal that I feel that way". She says "well its not like I have taken written on my forehead would you rather me not tell you". I say "no I don't want you to not tell me it just pisses me off", she responds "but you're the one I love and am always thinking about".

So yeah.. I can't stop thinking about it, it just gets to me. I find myself randomly thinking about it all the time. I'm a fairly jealous person too so I guess that makes it worse. Anyone have any advice or input? And please don't be a dick about it. Thanks.

Deal with it... The more you worry about her running away with some guy, the less you can enjoy your relationship. If she's gonna cheat on you, she's gonna cheat on you. Just expect her not to and if she does, find someone else.

She's telling you that she's getting hit on because she wants to know that you still get jealous. It's your choice whether you fulfill her expectations or not... if I were you I wouldn't bother. My opinion is that it's stupid to make your other half feel jealous/crap just so you can be reassured, she shouldn't need to do that. Next time don't give her a rise by letting her know you're pissed off. Just act indifferent. If she's a hot girl she'll get hit on a lot, and you won't be able to do anything about it 95% of the time. Gotta live with it.

When I worked at Taco Bell, customers would try to flirt with me all the time. Apparently it's socially acceptable to flirt with people in food services. I wouldn't worry about it.

Plus, if she's going to cheat on you it'll probably not be with one of her customers.

Jealousy usually has to do with your own insecurities, as in "why wouldn't she cheat on me, there's so much better out there". She might also be trying to "test" your feelings for her by letting you know or think there's guys standing in line to get with her.

You both need to knock it off. She DOES need to quit telling you because really, what's productive about that? She either knows you love her or she doesn't. She doesn't need to be telling you that shit and if it just to see how you react, double bitch points for her. Tell her to grow up and that you don't care. She's either with you or she's not, if she gets hit on it's up to HER what she does so what's the point of telling you?

Then YOU need to not care. Normally I'd call you a possessive insecure douchebag, but if she's always on about the other guys that hit on her, yeah it might get to me too and I'm NOT a jealous person. But you say you are, which means you gotta sort some things out on your end. Really, your world won't fall apart if she ends up not being with you anymore. It might suck for a while but it doesn't kill you. Stop putting so much of your self esteem and energy into her and this relationship and worry about what's good about YOU and live YOUR life more. Not that you shouldn't care about your relationship but it's not healthy to get this worked up about it. If she runs off with some other guy 1) You can't do anything about it and 2) It shows what kind of person she was to begin with and you're better off.

You both sound kinda immature with the way you're acting about all this.

A vicarious compliment implies it's only a compliment insofar as he identifies or empathises with his girlfriend, which he doesn't appear to as he is a bit jealous and needy really, whilst in fact the compliment mostly lies in someone finding something that he has (admittedly implausibly) attained attractive.
