    Default Processor Fan went kaput.

At the worst possible time (I just got Fallout 3!) my processor fan crapped out on me. So, being the desperate idiot that I am, I have taken off the case and put a small desk fan right next to my comp so I can play this wonderful game.

Any who, I am looking to replace this fan but I was wondering if it is at all complicated/dangerous for my computer. I'm not that tech savvy but I don't like being charged fifty bucks for a tech guy at a store to pop out some screws. Also, if anyone want to throw out some suggestions on some reliable fans for my comp, please feel free to do so!

The fan will most likely come with instructions. Hop on NewEgg and check out the selection. I built a machine a few years ago and got the Scythe Shogun. It was a monster, and needed brackets to fit on the back and the front of the motherboard.

It's really quite easy to change the processor fan and as Harner said, the fan should come with instructions. Price £20~ for a decent fan. Before you buy a fan, read this so you buy the correct fan for your processor.

It's up to you, but you really shouldn't put the processor under heavy use, eg play Fallout 3 just in case the processor cooks itself.

if you can just replace the fan do that because its literally unscrewing the fan and putting a new one on. changing out the heatsink is a bit of a deal if you have an older cpu but newer core cpus are easy
