Default Picked up some bad spyware... cant get rid of it..

I got some spyware on my computer the other day. Dont know where it came from, but its there.

I tried using Spy bot search and destroy to get it, but it wont even open when I try to open it.

And the only way I can go to a web page is if its bookmarked, or if I paste the link in the addy bar. If I google something and then click a link ,it brings me somewhere else. Sometimes it works, but alot of the time it brings me to some random hosting site or some shit.

Have you tried restoring your system to like start of the month or a week or two ago?

    1) Failing that, update your anti virus / spyware programs
    2) Reboot and hit F8 til you get an option to boot into safemode
    3) Hit yes and login
    4) Go to my computer > right click C: drive and run a anti virus scan
    5) Run any other anti spyware scans and remove all crap

CCleaner may help out cleaning any rubbish left behind by any nasties.

Download Super Antispyware. It's free and sounds cheesy, but a few months ago I got a Smitfraud infection that even the program that's specifically designed to clean it couldn't clean. This got rid of it AND found a bunch of other nasty shit that no other program found.

Go here to get it. Try booting in safe mode if you keep getting redirected other places trying to get to the site.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/ is hands down the best anti-malware out there. It's what Spybot was 5 years ago.

Edit: Super Antispyware is OK too.

    Follow this, and use Ccleaner.

Did the restore, ran Ccleaner. and ran malware bytes. Seems to be gone.

Now while I have you guys here. I have another problem. Im not sure if it has to do with firefox, or just my computer. When Im on youtube, or another video site, the sound will stop working after I play a video or two. And will not work on any more videos until I close the browser and re-open it. Anyone know wtf this is about?

I would first suggest reinstalling the browser, but if that doesn't cut it, check for Windows Updates and then finally see if your sound card / chip drivers are up to date. Remember to back up your profile, or at least export your bookmarks.

It could also be a codec problem. I would suggest using either K-Lite Codec Pack or the Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP).

Glad to hear you got rid of the malware.

You could always repartition and get rid of all the bad crap on your computer.

Mine does this too sometimes, I'll get like a second of audio and maybe 3 seconds of video then it just stops.

Happens to me too. My fix is to get into the task manager and end a process called "avgnsx.exe". It is an AVG anti-virus network service, but ending the process fixes the problem. It is strange, though, because the process is using a tiny amount of resources, and immediately restarts itself when it is ended, but ending it once will fix the problem. Maybe you have something like that going on...

Ill get the full video no matter what. Its just sometimes the sound will stop. It will stop sometimes if I try and move the slider back in the video too.

I too use Super Antispyware. I wasn't sure at first but it is solid.
