    Default Your shameful playlists.

Now I firmly believe that everyone at least has one playlist or artist on their ipod or in their album collection that they are embarrassed about. You know, the songs that you want to slap on party shuffle or bring to a party. So, spill it. What are your guilty pleasures when it comes to music? I'll be brave and get flamed for what I am about to post.

    My shameful playlists/artists are...

    1) Smile DK. Shaddup. I know they are DDR but still have some catchy tunes.
    2) TATU. Russian wanna-be lesbians don't make the best music but I can't seem to summon the willpower to get rid of them.
    3) Mindless Self Indulgence. I have no idea why the hell I enjoy them. Cross dressing lead singers and freaky lyrics aren't really my thing, but they somehow make me buy their albums. Bastards.

    So c'mon! Confess!

I have Lily Allen's album on my computer still, I just can't be bothered deleting it.
Wheatus' album is on there even though I only like their cover of A Little Respect
Chas N'*Dave - I once bought a Chas N Dave greatest hits album for like two quid and it came with an extra full album on a bonus disc (all in all about 70 songs...) and I'm ashamed to admit I listen to it far more than I should...
The Distillers - Yes I was a retarded teenager once and yet two albums are still in my library...
I don't really think there's anything else. I have a few more CD's I'm none too proud of but I ignore their existence.
As for other music on my computer I don't think there's anything else I should feel guilty about. I still stand by the fact Elton John has a few damn good songs. My music taste is pretty good all in all.

Prelude for Piano and Malaria by Worrytrain
    Luscious Life by Patrick Watson
    Sćglópur by Sigur Rós
    Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

There are things in my collection which could be construed as embarrassing, but I'm fairly convinced pretty much all that I listen to is merely 'good music'.

Take All Saints, or Elton John, for example. I wouldn't call them guilty pleasures, I really do think their musical output is pretty good and worth listening to.

I am not really ashamed of anything I listen to.

The only thing would be a lot of pop songs that I don't care for the band/artists but I just find the song to be really catchy/good.

Britney, Katy Perry, etc all fall under that.

I like Third Eye Blind and Barenaked Ladies.

I don't understand it either. Neither of those bands are like anything I enjoy.

Barenaked Ladies are actually extremely talented musicians. The album Gordon has strokes of genius.

I was listening to Feist earlier today, but that's about the only thing I'm ashamed of. I only listened to her really because she was like the Seinfeld "two-face", you see her once and she's fucking hot, you see her in a differen't light and she's not that attractive. That and I was listening to her performance on The Colbert Christmas, I love her voice.

What on earth is there to be ashamed of about listening to Feist?

There was that one song on the ipod commercial that everybody hated because it was played so much but even that isn't too annoying when you hear the whole song.

I just don't really pride myself on listening to sensations. Not so much that I'm ashamed by her, I'm just used to listening to more obscure music.

I think the only music that is shameful is this one Fall Out Gay album "From Under the Cork Tree," and maybe Fergie's album.
Im not ashamed of my Seal (discography), Rick Astley (discography with remixes), Lily Allen, and Katy Perry album(s).

I don't simply listen to obscure music because it's obscure, and I wasn't ashamed of listening to her, I simply meant to say that I'm not used to listening to music about which I can have conversations with about 90% of the people I know. It was less shame and more discomfort.

The very fact that discomforts you shows what a pretentious prick you are. I mean ffs, up until maybe a year and a half ago Feist was obscure music.

You obviously took a different definition of discomfort than what I meant. Feist is not in my particular genre of music, and aside from that, she's not particularly what I enjoy musically, lyrically or anything else. The main reason that I was listening to her was because I am continually fascinated by her voice. I was stepping out of my regular comfort zone, therefore I was discomforted. If that makes me pretentious, that's fine, but I see in no way how I presented myself with false pretenses and acted of higher importance than I am. She simply is not the kind of music I listen to, the obscure comment was more my saying that I spend more time listening to less popular and different music than Feist.

    Artists I have but shouldn't:

    Jewel
    Sarah Mclaughlin
    Fiona Apple
    Norah Jones

Interestingly they all sorta emerged out of that whole female singer/songwriter group of the 90's

Norah Jones' first album kicks ass. I lent it out to someone though and don't know who and I don't really want to buy it again. Now all I have is her second album which sucked. That video with Zach Galiafinakis is pretty good though.

'Don't Know Why' by Norah Jones is an amazing song as well. Hate pretty much everything else she's done but she does have a beautiful voice.

Fiona Apple was a good musician but her whole "Fuck awards" bit at the 1997? Grammy's was rather trite considering its been done 15 times before

yes. but don't worry i wont judge you for crying to that musically and lyrically abhorrent song... any more, that is.

i "should be ashamed" about everything i listen to, since it is in large part classical music. i like most of Paul Simon's "Graceland" album, especially the eponymous song.
