Default Steven Spielberg is remaking OLDBOY

and he wants Will "Gettin' Jiggy with it" Smith to play the lead character.

    How fucked up is that?

EDIT: I was so infuriated by this news i misspelled remaking

I think if Big Willy Style plays the badass mastermind and someone else plays the main character it might be ok

    otherwise no

But it will be horrible anyway. No way Spielberg can pull off macabre

From the 'fleshy fair' on in AI, it's pretty fucking macabre.

This is of no surprise because Will Smith plays everything summer blockbuster.

I don't know why everyone is ragging on Smith. He's a very good actor.

But he couldn't even make Robert Neville a badass

Robert Neville, bad ass? I always pictured him as a large, paranoid man.

In the context of the the IAL movie, he was supposed to be a doctor. And I found him plenty bad-ass.

    I too enjoy Will Smith.

Mal, we're making a facebook group to proclaim our discontent with Willy's rep.

While I absolutely love Will Smith, I can't imagine him starring in this movie. Besides it'll suck if he's in a remake of Old Boy. Not because Will Smith is a horrible actor but he said he'll never star in a R rated movie. And I can't imagine a decent PG-13 version of Old Boy.

It would just involve a catchy song from fresh himself, it drives the attention from all the violent content.

Wasn't Bad Boys or Bad Boys 2 R rated? Because they were cert 18 over here and our censorship laws are much less strict than yours.

Yeah. I guess I was wrong. Someone lied to me. I still can't see Will Smith in such a violent film.

This is a poor decision. I must admit when I seen the title of this thread, I thought it was a joke, it sounds so absurd.

I don't mind Will Smith, but I do mind this silly idea.

I'm a little bit confused. I saw Oldboy last week and was a little confused and guilty. If this is not an adaptation of the film but of the graphic novel that film was based on, than what is going to make this different?

But since the Oldboy GN sucks, the movie will in turn have the same result.
