Angry What the hell is with my emotions at the moment :@

Okay okay so, my emotions lately have been bouncing everywhere, I'm a 16 year old guy, and usually nothing much effects me, I've never cried at funerals never cried in a sad film don't notice about all these child abuse things on tv or murders etc... I generally don't care much because usually I can choose to be sad or happy and I want to be happy it has landed me in some awkward positions before like being told I don't care and I'm selfish etc.. but it's my way of dealing with it.

But back to the problem, lately anything sad or close to it triggers something and I get extremely sad for about 10 secs then it goes away. Like I was watching flashpoint and this little girl got kidnapped (this isn't a real life program btw) and I just felt like bursting into tears. It's frustrating me!

I can usuallly handle being alone as well, I've got friends and stuff but I don't go out with them much because they all drink and smoke weed and shit like that and I'm really not into that. There's nobody else to hang out with to do 'normal' things either since I have a really small school so I just sit and play WoW or work out or study.

It's just irritating as hell getting sad over simple things, does anybody have any idea what's up with me?

Don't just say puberty I wanna get rid of this coz I'm joining the army at the end of next year and don't want this affecting my capability.

    Any help would be greatful
    thanks

Its probably something psychological. But have you tried just letting yourself go one of these times, and letting it all out?

    let loose, man
it's silly (and emotional in itself) to be irritated by normal emotional reactions
this is a good thing to happen before joining the army so that you learn more about yourself - you can't always be a robot who can switch feelings on and off and not care

    Err let loose how?

Last time I let loose was when me and my girlfriend of 1 and a half years broke up, well I had to fix a couple of my walls and buy a new bed.

Any thoughts on a non-violent way of letting it out?

It sounds like you're becoming a human, to be honest.

You're prone to moments of sorrow and sympathy. Even a fake-kidnapping could get to you if you think it's real for a second.

As for your second post right before mine, get a punching bag. Controlled violence. That's how I got my anger under control.

Exercise is good too. When I feel super pissed off, sad, whatever, I run. It doesn't take all the feeling away, but it makes it easier to deal with by getting some of the raw energy out. Also don't sweat it. People just get weird emotional shit going on. I remember one night about a month ago I was just CRAZY depressed over...I'm not even sure. I mean I knew at the time, but I think I was just looking for a reason to justify how I felt, and that was it.

Have you been stressed out at all? I know when I first came to college I got pretty emotional for a few weeks. I was excited about it, but still it was a big change and it got to me sometimes. Anything like that going on in your life?

surely that's a warning against keeping in your feelings the way you have been

write a book. learn to express yourself. get a friend with whom you can open up and discuss this shit. stop bottling up because that's stupid.

Watch this and the other ads by the same company and just have a cry. Everybody goes through that stage I think, I know I did. I'm going to take the typical phrase of "It takes a big man to hide his emotions but a bigger man to cry"

    Or something.

    Just cry, everybody does it.

As for the friends, just make new friends. Meet people that you know vaguely through bebo/myspace/facebook and get to know them better and find people with similar interests as you and hang out with them.

You are a teenager, this stuff can happen. Talking about your feelings is good. Makes you feel better and can shed light on things. This can be hard though, you need someone you know you can talk to, in confidence who won't laugh at you or judge you.

I used to be like you in that I'd never cry, I always fought so hard to do so, then eventually, one night alone and drunk, watching something on TV, I decided to not fight it. I actually like it now and again, watching a weepy just for the sake of crying. I'd reccomend it to everyone. Just once a month or something, watch something that tugs yer heart strings. Makes you feel more human.

Well I know you're just 16, but you have to realize that being apathetic in life will get you absolutely nowhere. With that said, a 16 year old kid should not be be inside playing WoW and working out all day; go out with your friends, don't drink or smoke if it's not your thing, and I'm sure that even though you have a small school that everyone is not like that. At least maybe start talking to girls, even though you claim to have 'no emotions,' you still are a horny little teenager so go out and start socializing at least a little bit so you're not a complete nerd.

Glad to see biff agrees with me.

Also, do boxing in the army. I think they still have it.

    You'll get some aggression out.

I've taken to working out when I'm frustrated. I find boxing better when you're angry but exercise generally is scientifically proven to release chemicals that make you feel good. Which is probably why people like to go out for a run when they're feeling sad. If there is something wrong then I find that talking it over with people makes me feel better. And for God's sake, avoid depressing or emotional music.
