    I like Avast!, because it makes a loud siren noise after it finds a virus. It makes you feel like its DEFCON 1 when it finds some dormant tracking cookie.

    Nod32 is a great AV. I used it for years.. I'm not sure how free it is but it's not hard to find a crack for it.

    AVG is your best legit free anti-virus software.

    from what i remember though (going back three years when I paid attention to this stuff) nod32 was the best but you had to pay for it.

    AVG might have been decent a couple years ago, but is pretty bad now. I wouldn't trust it.

    AntiVir seems to be the best free app available now, but you have to disable some popups with the free version.

    But, NOD32 is like $20. You can't be that poor.
