Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water (simple but VERY effective)
Neil Young - Like A Hurricane
    John Lee Hooker: Boom boom
    Iron Butterfly - In-a-gadda-da-vida
Echo & The Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
Joy Division - She's Lost Control
Beatles - I Want You (the riff for the chorus I think)
    Beatles - Helter Skelter
Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze (No idea how you could leave out Jimi Hendrix)
    Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
    RATM - Bombtrack
Rolling Stones - (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
Alice In Chains - Them Bones

Instead of naming all the usual popular guitar riffs I'll break out of the norm here and say 15 Steps by Radiohead.

Good selection. I tried to stray from the usual a little bit, but then realized that most of the songs that popped into my head were poplular classics.

I'd also like to add that almost any given Breaking Benjamin song is pretty great to me.

Hey! I'm from SA, had this bookmarked for a while and thought I'd register.

The best 30 seconds of any song for me is when Brian May comes out of nowhere with that face-melting riff near the end of Bohemian Rhapsody. I can't help but break out a smile when it comes around, because of its sheer awesomeness.

Most of my favourites are by Metallica (pre-90's, and a couple from the Black Album).

All of Bohemian Rhapsody is pure gold, as for pre-90's Metallica, yes.

Not even sure if it is guitar and if any of it has guitar riffs. On Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, at about 1:33 and so forth, I really like that part. Like they're jamming out or something. Kinda wish I could do something like that.

All of SRV's cover of Little Wing gives me a massive, painful erection

And that song from "The Piano" was pretty good, but I can't remember the name because it is long
