Default "Our Fading Heritage" US Civics Quiz

    http://www.americancivicliteracy.org...rces/quiz.aspx

The average score for the participants was 49%. For college educated people, it was 55%. Pretty pathetic.

For sycld-educated peoplez, it was 30 out of 33 correct-- 90.91%. To be honest, I should have only gotten 1 out of the those 3 wrong, but I got nervous and thought the questions were tricks...

I can't really focus on this well as I'm at work, and I went in to 'quiz taking mode' from HS where I had to read and re-read the questions.

I guessed on about 80%-90% of the questions. I hardly know anything about American history or American government.

It's the philosophical foundations of democratic governance. I am surprised that they went that far back in history, as Aquinas of course is the most recent philosopher on that list, and he lived in the 13th century... Usually, in most civics classes only 18th century philosophical movements are touched upon, primarily British Empiricism.

Apparently that's just about the average for people who have taken this test online.

I will take this when I have a few minutes, but I predict a perfect score for me, mainly because all internet quizzes are easy.

Especially because there's a second question ABOUT the new deal, basically answering the first question.

Didn't know FDR's response, the missile crisis (got the date wrong), argues the wrong neoliberal response on #27 because I second-guessed due to the number of internationally geared questions, and got a question I should have had correct but let my fiancee talk me out of.

What's really funny is the fact that they leave the correct answers in the test, yet count them as incorrect. Go tell Lehman Bros and Jamaica how awesome the free market is. lol.

Perfect 33/33, but then again the test has severe shortcomings and isn't really a reflection of civic knowledge as much as it is basic economics and American history. For example, the role of the Anti-Federalists or the Lincoln-Douglas debates aren't exactly relevant to your ability to understand the complex issues that we face today.

Interesting, though it's not really all Civics and Heritage, there was a lot of Economics.
