Default Computer not reading external HDD...

I had a broken laptop HDD that I sent off for repairs, and since I got it back, I decided to just use it as an external.

I have the case for it, put it in, and when I hook it up it wont even show up in My Computer.

I have two different wires for it. One of them is just a normal PS3 controller charger. The other is the same plug on the HDD side, but two USB plugs on it for the power it needs. It makes the beep noise that it makes when something is connected with either, but the light on the case flashes when the cable with 2 plugs in used. With teh PS3 cable its solid. But its not showing up either way.

    Help

Does the HDD show up in Disk Management?

right click my computer > manage > disk management
Is the ext HD driver installed properly?

right click my computer > manage > device manager
Are there any yellow "?"...possibly under univeral serial bus controllers?

Is the drive spinning up? Maybe it's a defect.

If nothing can see that the drive is there, try reseating the connections to and from the drive, and try a different USB/FW port.

Do you have a partition tool like Partition Magic? or just download a GParted iso and burn it to a cd and reboot. Maybe give that a try?

Take it out of the enclosure and install it back in the computer to eliminate the enclosure being a problem.

    oh wait, laptop.

And he meant installing it into your laptop internally, and looking in your bios to see if its there. Or if you dont know how to do that, throw in an XP cd and try to install the OS on there. When you verify it works, take it out and put your other hard drive back in.
