    Default .avi to dvd?

Since I like to loaf around on the couch while watching some pirated vids, I was curious if anyone knew a good .avi to dvd converter? Hopefully there is one out there that is free and won't leave a water mark until I purchase the whole program instead of using the trial version...those crafty bastards.

ConvertXtoDVD is the best DVD making software ever. I thought this was free (or maybe used to be free or my friend gave a crack for it to me if it was never free.) Anyway, as KT said, free if you look in the right places.

SUPER(C) is pretty good at most format conversions, and it supports nearly any format you throw at it and can convert it to nearly any other format, including DVD, VCD, and SVCD. Best of all, it's actually free. Not guaranteeing quality though. I've never converted to DVD.

Funny how you still have to jump through a few hoops to get the download though.

Instead of conversion, have you ever thought of networking your 360 or PS3 (presuming you have one) up to your commuter. That way, no excess disc waste. I'm thinking too green today.

I use Nero Vision. Just get the nero premium suite and it will come with it. Does a good job for me.

Most films in .avi are 700 or 1400mb, which fits onto 1 or 2 CDs, so using the 'vcd' option with nero would work. And some DVD players are even capable of playing DivX/XviD encoded .avi files on CDs.

Otherwise, what these other guys said does the job for windows.
