How often do you use the paracord? I have a key chain fob that I made similar to one I found on this site. I used 8 foot of cord (he suggests 10 but I think it's too bulky) and mine doesn't have a snap on it. You can take it apart and use the cord if needed. It's tied using a double lanyard knot and a king cobra stitch.

I have a 75 foot piece of it in my out doors bag. I dont use it much, but its usually to hand something from a tree if I do.
